I've never seen one, I only came across it while looking for free games for my nephew to play.
The server logs say we get 200-600 new players a day, but I think most of those are just people making alt's sending isk and deleting, since our player base stays around 2500-3000 (peaks are most likely aforementioned isk alt farmers).Maybe make the 250k isk a academy graduation gift instead of starting funds since starter suits and milita parts are cheap as it gets anyway to get rid of that, and possibly extending their academy time.
The game is dead... Then why are we still getting hot fixes, and why are people still begging for changes.

Game was adveritsed. Hell I found it due to it. Okay that was February 2013 but thats not the point.
Ads existed. At least on the Minecraft Forums. 
I will be the only player to Prototype every single god damn weapon before Dust dies. 2 to go.

Why would you advertise what is pretty universally agreed to be a really bad game? CCP already has a reputation as a company that isn't capable of delivering. An ad campaign could only make that rep worse, because you really can't advertise honestly when the game is as bad as dust.

I give my friends good advice, and they trust my opinion. I don't go and diminish that because I want CCP to feel better about their PCU numbers. Especially given the manner in which CCP went out of their way to mislead the faithful.
Hell, if you can't even admit to your friends that you like playing a bad game, then they aren't really your friends.

Most gamers are pretty biased when playing a game as bad as Dust depending on actually how bad the experience was. It's definitely not unheard of where someone plays the game the first time goes 0/20 and uninstalls after reading the forums and realizing even if they improved they'd still be so vastly behind in overall SP to the people who've played more often and earlier.
That's the thing about Dust that no developer really can answer, has answered or even dares to lay out a plan to answer: this game is THE WORSE for newcomers and doesn't do itself any favors in trying to get around this curse.
For those who haven't played EvE Online, players always commented on how EvE was for niche market audience and that it'd never grow. While that part wasn't true for EvE it's pretty accurate for Dust; play since beta, get a good amount of skill points and smoke the newplayers! Tonight as the first time since I played WoW where I died because I checked my PC to browse my facebook messages and have reeses and I died 3 times on a match we were loosing to a corp of 6 ppl all running heavies on domination.
The one thing that CCP does right is not advertise Dust514. To steal and paraphrase a line from the tv show Andromeda, if Dust were my boat I'd drown it on the spot and put it out of it's sorry misery. Sad part is I hate CoD BUT I know what I'm getting into as far as a game and quality. With CCP it's like a bipolar relationship and I'd just honestly wish they'd simply choose and be done with it.
