Why not have both passive and active scans precision be increasingly better up close and get worse over distance. That way a proto focused scanner on a gal logi would be able to pick up any scout (except gal scout) from roughly 5-10m while facing its direction, but it wouldn't be able to pick up that same fitted scout from any farther. I think that would be beneficial to all scout and scanners, scouts would have to be more careful who and when they walk in front of someone, and it would push people with scanners to be more careful i choosing on when to scan because they need to be looking at the scout and be able to find him befor he passive scans him.
Just wanted some feedback on the idea.

So the gal logi can for sure scan a scout that's standing in front of it huh? At such a short range, not much of a point unless both players are having a staring contest.
I was just throwing numbers at the time, still get them actively scanned makes them seeable by everyone in squad, plus you are sacrificing an high slots to get your precision lower. |

The underlying observation is that with the scanned rather than the scanner winning the EWAR race, imbalance ensues.
If you've been playing in PCs recently on the ground (or even pubbing in Skirmish or Domination), you'll know what I mean, but perhaps I've been killed by cloaked/dampened scouts too many times to be objective on this topic. It's not nessecarily the scanner that's always winning, he is getting close to a dangerous character to get important detail that only last a few seconds, but it renders that person almost useless during that time. The scanner is risking a lot to save a lot more. That's why I think it's fair and it also separates cal and gal scouts so the gal scouts aren't made that they get the same damp as cal. Since the will have more low slots, they will only need to sacrifice one one more slot in order to be better damped than any other scout or scanner. |

Hey R-tard, did you even read any of the other posts throughout the thread, I said I was just throwing numbers out to get an idea of how it would work. Jeeze don't just jump in and start criticizing it without getting to know more. |
