Strafing is not the simple fix to using a scout with a shotgun, try running as a scout before spouting jiberish. The slow rate of fire means that if you don't 1 shot the enemy then you are dead, plain and simple. Now I'm not trying to be able 1 shot anything except maybe a light suit or starter fit medium frame, but what I'm trying to say ios that the RoF redcution hurt shotguns way more then helped them with the damage buff

Are you implying they would lie about the numbers in some great conspiracy to nerf shotguns?

After the beta and we went into uprising I chose to continue being a scout shotgunner but instead of staying with the gal scout i switched to the min scout because i loved the nk as a side arm and always used it. Back then the shotguns had an increase to their rate of fire through there proficiency skill so they they did the exact same amount of damage when they fired but they were able to fire a bit more faster, now what that did was enable a scout who has on average 200-300 hp to survive a heavy or damage modded light weapon. Now here we are a little while after all the proficiency skills were changed so that they did extra damage to either shields or armor and they changed the shotgun proficiency skill as well, but what they did was not make them any better, in fact it is just the opposite of that, they managed to make the shotguns worst then they were before. Without the rate of fire increase, no matter how high your eWAR skills are, even if you are cloaked, as soon as you fire and the enemy knows you are there you are dead. Especially with the way the burst hmg is being spammed like crazy, you can be as sneaky as you want, you fire and then you are spotted and you are dead. Now with the increase to rate of fire it give you a chance to be to able fire a second time before they finish turning around, and that can mean the difference between life and death. All I am trying to say is that the shotguns were perfect long before CCP changed everything around, so why did they have to go and mess it up on us?

The original proficiency skill for the shotguns never gave a flat damage increase like every other weapon in the game, it gave an increase to RoF, and that allowed a scout to be able to go toe to toe with any other suit and weapon in the game. Now it gives a bonus damage to armor. Now while a lot of people would think that extra damage is way better then RoF, but the shotguns did more then enough damage to begin with and with the slow RoF they needed that increase to be able defend against things like heavy and assault suits.

No but thiss change came long before now, this came when they changed all the proficiency skills, so there numbers as of now don't reflect that. Also number do not reflect how things really are, not to mention that ccp has said lots of things that either didn't happen or were totally incorrect.

It can 1 shot a non hp tanked scout, 2-3 shot an assault unless they are militia, and it take 3-4 shots to kill a heavy, all with in a 5m range which puts the user at insta-death range of every single weapon except the nova knives. The RoF is so low that unless you are lucky enough to 1 shot someone and they start to turn around you are dead, mostly because now you have a person moving around to avoid any follow up shots. If anything the shotguns under perform from what they are supposed to do.
