I had a couple of good games today and realized that I am beginning to like Dust again after a break and apparently some of the fixes done in alpha-bravo-charlie. So, I figured, I would buy some Aur to show my support. However, Aur purchases are not mere donations - I would like to get something that I can use in the game. I don't need or want equipment - I am not sure if anyone in the game does. So, the only thing worth buying are boosters (yes, I don't mind a few extra SP that I can use for skills for a weapon that I want to play with). So to come to the point - I was gonna buy some Aur but then I realized that a 30 day booster is worth 14k Aur which would cost $7. Since boosters can be thought of as 'rent' or month subscription you pay in the game (please, spare me you comments with other commercial analogies and statements like 'you don't got money - don't pay because Dust is free') - it does seem very expensive. Most triple A MMO RPG with an enormous amount of code and content cost close to this much. I would not mind paying $5 a month for a game like dust (tax included) but 7$ does not seem like a fair price. Comments?

/shrug I consider Dust to be in a end of life development cycle. They are pushing hotfixes to try correcting some of the glaring mistakes in the game that have been here for over a year.

Boosters are a waste of money.
The only thing you should ever buy are Faction Packs, preferably when they are on sale for $5 (or even cheaper sometimes for PS+)
They give you 100 copies of prototype AND advanced gear. Because it is aurum gear you can use it without needing to spend a whole bunch of sp...and you can use the gear while you save up sp to unlock the isk version.
You get a whole bunch of suits, weapons, modules...and even a faction booster which will help you earn LP for buying even more suits you can use without needing to spend the sp to unlock.
Passive boosters only give you an extra 100k sp per week, and active ones require you to play the game constantly in order to use them. Faction pack items can be used whenever you want, as much or as little as you want...they just run out eventually.
Except that by the time the items in the pack run out, you will have already unlocked the isk items, so it's perfect.

Don't buy boosters now and wait for the triple sp event to kick in then go to town with the omega booster sales.
Noob isn't really a status, it's the online equivalent of a 5-year old calling you a poopy fart head.

Just wipe your ass with $10 so you can at least have the pleasure of watching it go down the drain.
Seriously, just put it in a charity jar. Give it to somebody that needs it and most of all, deserves it. These guys have fleeced enough people with false hopes, deception, and outright lies.
$10 goes a long way in feeding a family that hasn't seen food in a week. That's a round of inoculations for a kid in poverty. It's a healthy contribution to a child with leukemia whose family can't afford treatment.
You'll feel better about it.

The game's on its last legs. Why the hell would anyone spend money on it now?
Destiny won't kill Dust.
CCP already did that.

I love this game, even with all it's flaws and even I can't justify spending real money on it after fanfest.
Prior to fanfest, i was running active and passive boosters nearly every month. That has stopped. I even just canceled my account on EVE, but that's more to lack of play time than anything else.
unless you really don't care that there's nothing more coming to Dust in the way of development cycle and not just hotfixes, I can't recommend spending any money here anymore. |

I get what you're saying completely but will not think twice about spending a couple of quid on omega boosters - but maybe that's because i still have plenty of stuff left to skill into.

I agree, the FW boosters get you access to gear that does what AUR gear does.
SP Boosters are nice, but I got all mine a LONG time ago when they were included in better packs and when you bought AUR.

Dust is my least expensive vice, so I'll probably continue running boosters until the game dies with the dim hope that my toon will get ported to legion. However, $15 bucks a month to keep active and passive boosters going does seem a bit steep from a traditional cost/benefit perspective, given that the cost is comparable to much larger subscription supported games.

If you are a active player and only want 3 day active booster (thats enough time to cap out) then go and buy starter packs for 0,99Gé¼. You get like 40 suits, 40 rail, scrambler and combat rifles on top with aswell some AUR and a 3day active booster.

I think the price is very reasonable for an optional item. Considering most MMOs cost $15-$20 a month, running both active and passive boosters puts you about in line with most MMOs, but it's optional.
I mean reduce the price from $7 to $5? What is that, a savings of 6-7 cents a day? Meh?
I say the prices are fine. Run Passives constantly, and buy Omegas for SP events. |

When they put the high-end AUR versions of weapons on sale, they present some great value -- a 75k ISK ARR for only 20A is quite cheap, IMO.
I agree boosters are a bit expensive, and given that I have almost 50m SP, I will likely not buy any more. |
