Unplayable matches in which the rubber banding lag last the whole damn time are becoming more frequent every week in my experience. Apparently various worthless douchb*gs are lag switching. All I know is this wasn't happening before CCP announced Legion. Have you abandoned network tech support for Dust? This epidemic needs a response. This is happening ALL THE TIME EVERY DAY. What are you doing about it CCP? |

Whatever. Do your corpies know you're a lying backstabber? |

Ignore that douche. Anyone at least have any idea why laggy matches are becoming more frequent? I think one thing may be that the number of U.S. and Europe players has gone down and the proportion of South America and Asia players has gone up. There aren't enough players so it's forcing into the same match players that shouldn't be due to lag issues. Or a bunch of a$$holes figured out they could lag switch day and night and are havin a ball. |

Level 10 Failcascade. If I meet the redhead CEO guy I will b!tchslap him. I don't mind people who have mediocre ideas and just make mediocre games. But these people had the greatest idea for the greatest game. The knew they had it. They wanted to make a truly excellent game out of it. Everything was in place for it. All the stars were aligned. They had the resources, the window, everything. Then they made every wrong decision possible in its implementation. I could go on but what's the point. Dust is so unique, so superior to any other shooter in so many ways (go play Destiny and see what I mean) but they f*cked it up. It could have been amazing if it was able to grow, but now they've pulled the plug and are probably going to slither out of any commitment to Legion. Such a great idea...unfortunately in the hands of people who couldn't handle the pressure. |

Turns out the CPM is good for something, unlike the Mysterious Disappearing Devs. Please enlighten me. |

Considering most of the people coming in here are not supporting your claims, as well as the fact that I have had none of the problems you're describing leads me to believe that it's either an internal networking issue with your equipment, there's an isolated problem on your connection to the internet, or you're playing on a server that's far away from you against people close to said server. Also, although apparently temporally resolved, there have been issues for the past 2-ish weeks with the general internet as a whole. I've heard people left and right complaining about it. It ain't just me. I think there are so few people playing dust that they're throwing people together that should be on different servers. |

Okay, so lag switching works on games where a player is the host. This was done notably in Call of Duty, to save money. Rather than Activision actually host their own servers, they would allow the lowest latency player to be the server for the rest of the team. Lag switchers would have a great internet connection, and be selected the host for the game. Then, once the match started, they'd flip on the lag switch, and while they continued to have 0 latency, other players would experience soul-crushing lag. Unlike these games, DUST uses battle servers that all players connect to, and no user has control of the server. This means that a player who lag switches actually slows themselves down, not everyone else. Lag switching does not work in DUST. It never has, it never will. Anyone who says otherwise, is clueless. The reason there's more lag in DUST is because most games are much more compartmentalized location-wise. In a lot of games, you're playing mostly people in the same geographic area, not just "in the US" perhaps, but "on the west coast". On the other hand, DUST places all people in North and South America in the same battle server. And in PC, it's even common for players to be playing against people on another continent. The very selling point of DUST and New Eden, that it's all one universe, is actually what causes the lag. Because on almost no other game will you ever be fighting people over an ocean. That was some vital info bro thanks! Glad to know it's not lag switching. I figured it had a lot to do with what you're talking about. No surprise it's all about that actually. Any theories on why it's been getting worse in recent weeks/months? Less players so more bad combinations being forced to fill matches? |

You were always so narrow-minded and childish. Look the issue of performance is two fold, the battleserver performance and your own internet connection. Grow the **** up and stop being a ******* pubbie. Ha! You don't sh*t about me dog. What I know about you is that your childish b*tching, squabbling, backbiting, and backstabbing betrayed the trust that your corpmates placed in you as a leader and soured me and a bunch of others on The Exemplars.
Look I'm a lover not a hater dog but it's hard to deal with unrepentant tw@twaffles such as yourself. |

Thumb Green wrote:It's not lag-switching, it's lag compensation. Bone Snatcher posted this video the other day that explains it pretty well. The gist of it is, people with good connections get dragged down to accommodate people with sh!tty connections. So when you die almost instantly to a guy you just pumped half a mag into, that guy has a worse connection than you do. Thanks man! I'll check it out. |

Statistically, I actually think we have more players now than we did before Fanfest on a regular basis. http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust Yeah my bad actually I looked on eveoffline and saw that. I think the number of players from poorer countries like Brazil with crappy internet has increased, which is natural since it's FTP, but the number of players in the US and Europe has gone down. That would explain the increase in overall latency and the extreme spike in lag for northern hemisphere players. (Not their fault their internet speed sucks llama balls.) |
