I'd like to see if everyone thinks they're okay when they get blown up by something that wasn't being rendered repeatedly... I'd also really like to be able to kill a swarmer with a swarm launcher, lol... Without trying to bash their head in with it.

Huh? When I first started playing I chose anti-armor because the swarm launcher sounded cool, I thought it worked like the javelin from MW2, you could lock on a certain spot and shoot. Nope though. I was disappointed, it's very useless gun...I would rather use forge for AV

So people are still harping about this months and months after their range was reduced specifically so the swarms would launch eh Or are you just another guy that doesnt realize the skills needed to make two swarms impact at nearly the same time and think invisible stuff is hitting you |

Nice thought, but I keep my swarms for av and use my mass driver for blowing up clones. And no blowing up Nibs Derp

1. Put together a cheap-fit swarm suit. 2. Run into room full of redberries and aim at the ground. 3. Collect hatemail about how you're "SUCh A F*G!!!"

I agree. I also think there is a glitch. The first two shots are very quick, but there is always a hesitation on the third shot. Not good. I think CCP made swarm launchers so they would have something to NERF ALL THE FU%$ING TIME

Swarm Launchers are a sweet weapon....you just didn't give yourself a chance to addapt to all the FU%$ing NERFS CCP has made. I am full blown AV and prefer my multiple shots to a 1 shot at a time.

During the first wave of closed beta we were able to dumb fie swarms, without the need for a lock on and it was worst then hell.
Just think about it, everyone on 1 team doing nothing but firing swarms at every one else. There is no where to runor hide from 16 people firing 4 rockets at you all at once. |

Are these rendering issues, or:
- You're falling for the 2 for 1 trick where both volleys hit at the same time.
- You're being attacked from behind.
Though it should be noted that (from my experience), even If I don't see the Swarmer I can aways hear them coming, and then activate my Afterburner to insta-warp to saftey. Perhaps you should chew your Potato Chips a tad bit softer, eh?
But by all means, feel free to allow us to kill Infantry. My MinCom with a maxed out Swarm Launcher would love to go wreak havoc on Infantry like the Forge of old.

Forge Guns still wreaks havoc on infantry. I just went 20/1 with a Forge Gun this past Wednesday.

Yep, that should happen and then we have an excuse to have the swarm launcher do cr*p damage to tanks just like the PLC.

Complaints about dumbfire swarms were from back in a day before flaylocks, plasma cannons, and forge guns, all noob tubes in their own rights. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the concept of a dumbfire swarm launcher in the context that it is balanced with current gameplay.
If there is NOT a dumbfire mode to swarms, I think they should be essentially the best at AV, since they're the only weapon in this game that can ONLY fire at vehicles.

Only thing that was imbalanced about dumbfire swarms was suicide bombers in starter fits. Figure out a way to fix that, and we should get them back.

What is the splash damage of swarms now and how big is splash? I ask because even though they do wreck vehicules, if the clone or clones is within that range they deserve to feel it.
Also another question: Does splash damage damage like a bubble (Like how the Orbitals look when they hit groud) or more of a ground range (straight along the groung) type of thing?

Suprisingly interesting discussion... But I'd like to point out to everyone saying "Are you sure you're not just stupid" (and for the record I'm not sure, I do some pretty silly things) That I have been flying, driving, doing all kinds of silly **** long enough to know the difference... There have been many times I've been looking at a swarmer (They still mostly give off the launch effect without showing the missiles) and I've seen nothing fly at me but still enjoy the nice impact and damage... Other times you see (and hear) them launch and immediately get hit by the missiles before they then fly towards you and the whole lot of launched missiles are out of sync entirely.
Yes sometimes I'm shot up the arse by swarms and that's why I don't see them. It would be nice if the hit indicator worked properly instead of only coming up half the time and the other half of the time pointing in a random direction (usually closer to the opposite direction, but not always... You tend to find them after you get shot down and take revenge.)
~ But yeah I think it would be interesting to have a varient that locks on super fast but only fires 1 rocket at a time & could also be used vs infantry.
On another note, if Swarms didn't stay locked on for a few seconds when behind a building &/or required you to actually keep looking at the target instead of near the target, it wouldn't get quite so much hate as an absolute 0 brain weapon. |

The swarminess of it was kindof a balancing factor: not only shotgun inaccuracy, but you could accidentally kill yourself with it if you tried firing from a closed area.

That's the way it was :P This was a big mystery to me why they even touched it...you could have a vehicle no less than 5 meters away from you and fire a swarm and it makes a magic 90 degree angle. Some of the other FPS games had the right idea: either make it able to dumbfire with poor accuracy but with homing capabilities or just dumbfire period.
Somehow EVE era tech sucks in the department of AV weaponry and sniper crosshairs....it's as if they had gene spliced a Russian clone to make the tech as backwards as possible. |
