SP gap, it grows with every passing day between new players and vets. That's why the game has an insane turnover rate. If you really want to git gud, build a time machine, and start playing much earlier. Otherwise, you are going to get wrecked consistently with 1/3rd the e/hp and about 25% less in EVERYTHING then the vets. This means you won't see them as they will have passive boosts to their profiles, they will likely see you without effort, they will hack faster, they will run faster, they will repair faster, they will have more shields and armor, they will do more damage. More than likely they will also have some of their buddies massaging their asses while they circle jerk in their jamboree, and after a little while they'll start dropping OBs on your team if you even remotely try to make a comeback. This is how half of your team goes 0/11, 0/19, 0/9 etc.
It's not going to get any better. Only thing you can do is try to leech off a corp or hide in the red line until you have enough sp to be somewhat decent, which will be in a couple of months. Which of course the vets will have more sp as well so that ceiling will just keep rising until everyone has skilled into everything.
Welcome to the grind, this is how mmo's work. But no MMO's with a grind mechanic are lobby shooters. Pretty **** on a lobby shooter? Yeah, that's what I keep saying, but I'm apparently just an idiot. I don't think I'm wrong though, because I see new players every day and our player count isn't going up.
This has been the boldest Runescape/EVE attempt i've seen in a lobby shooter, and it looks like it failed pretty hard. And I'm sure that had nothing to do with the abysmal player retention. The closest things would be games like gunz and combat arms and those have very very very slight differences in weapons. Although they have plenty of cash shop bullshit gear.
Edit: Also a word of warning. A lot of people are going to try to get you to join their corp. If it has anything above a 0.0% tax rate do not join. They will just be farming your isk like Somali warlords if you do.
