Since its already been announced that sidearms are the focus for delta, which sidearms are people expecting to become the new front runners?
I have fully maxed out smg's largely because I've been playing for so long and that they were the only side arm for so long I ended up speccing into them. It also helps that I have a plethora of smg bpo's. Unfortunately ratatiti has already announced that he would like to burn them into the ground harder than the flay lock nerfs of old. So whats everyone expecting for a good side arm to start saving up for? |

I think you're overreacting, but I'm ready with 2 proto sidearms, 2 lvl 4 sidearms(the only ones that have variants to unlock), and 3 adv. sidearms. So if anything becomes OP I'll be ready to abuse it until it gets nerfed because that's apparently the only way for people to figure out something needs to be rebalanced, and I am a warrior of justice that must show how unbalanced certain things in this game are...

scrambler pistol will either remain the same or have a smaller clip
smg will be nerfed slightly as i can still use it as a primary weapon and be competative LOL
flaylock will be buffed
ion pistol will get a damage increase
bolt pistol will hopefully be fixed since its buggy as hell right now
magsec is in a good spot so i think its going to be left alone
its just really unfortunate that development on the game has stopped or else we may have seen the introduction of some new sidearms in the form of amaar and gal smgs

you misspelled scrambler pistol here mate
the pistol is nice but it has a higher skill cap to get the same level of play out of it that you can get out of the smg, that ease of use factor the smg has makes the difference in alot of ways

its actually the BEST way to buff the flaylock, as it rewards skillshots without making aoe spam effective :P
a faster projectile means its possable to direct hit with it more effectivly, meaning higher damage output for skilled users without increasing the potential damage per clip :P
a slight buff to RoF may make be nessesary as well, but only a small buff to RoF would be nessesary if at all

Projectile speed increase would make the flaylock a lot more useful.
Damage is pretty crappy overall

More ammo in the clip and a slight aoe buff please, the damage is fine as is.

AoE buff is unnessesary, get direct hits with it instead :P
its supposed to be a skillshot weapon with AoE letting it hit behind cover with well placed shots, not an AoE spam pistol

Leave the smg for real.
Give the scp 100 more on the rof
Buff the range and damage on the ion.
Give the magsec a reactive variant and keep it a mini 're, or really increase the rof and decrease the damage and range so its more smg like.
Give the flaylock a flux version and adjust projectiles speed and possibly .2 too radius
And give the bolt pistol a assault version with a quicker reload, 6 in the mag with less damage and faster roof and add 2company rounds to the standard version.

Buff Ion RoF, +2 dmg, and lower the heat buildup (but let the heat sink slower) that way, you won't overheat in a single clip, but have the chance of doing it on the second. Also, fix it so that you don't overheat with a half-charged shot (and make the projectile bigger for charged shots ala old ScR).
Range is fine.
Reduce seize time by 1 second, maybe? Or increase accuracy? |

Hopefully we get the proper effects for the pistols, i.e., scrambler overheats if fired too many times quickly but otherwise has more shots than six.
Ion pistol should be deadly at point blank.

Its a mini mass driver.
It also states in its description that it uses small homing projectiles.

Fix the Flaylock: Dramatically increase direct damage. 250, 300, 350 across the tiers Universal Splash Radius. 1.8m across all tiers Small Splash Progression: 140, 150, 160
Right now, the ROF means you fire 2 shots per second. It takes 1.5s to fire all three shots for a total of 626 damage, meaning it's actual DPS right now is 417 DPS. This is at PROTO level. With ALL DIRECT SHOTS.
With these changes, Direct damage gives it the DPS it needs. 3 shots at 350 means it now deals 1050 in 1.5, buffing it to 700 DPS. This is ONLY if you land 3 direct shots. In reality, you would only land one or two on a strafing target.
1 Direct and two splash is equal to 446 DPS (Total of 670 Raw Damage) 2 Direct and one splash is equal to 573 DPS (Total of 860 Raw Damage)
All of the sudden, those numbers are deadly. It can now take down suits in a single clip, if you land every shot. Key word being LAND EVERY SHOT.
It's a skill shot weapon. Don't make it easier to use. Reward correct usage.

This sidearm rebalance should prove interesting. One thing I would like to see is the requirements on the Dren scrambler pistol updated to reflect it as being STD (11cpu 2pg) level gear as opposed to the MLT (20cpu 5pg) weapon it is currently. |

It's already balanced. People only use SMG because, as the OP said, they've been around forever. |

Hah I wanted you to, I know you're still relatively new but you'll still get some flack from your predecessors track record of destroying weapons they point out they want to see less usage of.
I know you're unsettled by how much the smg is being used but remember, sidearms arent all that exciting so a lot of us use SMG because its been around so long that we've thrown points into for the bpo usage and the familiarity of the weapon. If we were picking our sidearms over fitting cost we'd keep using the flaylock (which was how it was first really discovered, it was the defacto I have **** fitting skills lets pick the 0 pg sidearm)
That said outside of nova knives the level of sidearm generally picked is going to be a question of what still fits. There aren't really a lot of quality players out there who are going to look at their fitting and sacrifice a core competency for a sidearm. I never think yea I'll take less HP so I can get a higher level sidarm for the extra 20 dps that i'll use once in a blue moon when my main weapon runs out of ammo. |
