On my alt, I had already pretty muched maxed out my Min Logistics skills so I decided to branch into the Assault suit. I wasn't too impressed with it pre-HF Charlie, but since then I've had a change of heart.
First of all, I love its bonus (rounds in projectile weaponry). This was literally my only gripe with the Assault CR, and though I only have MinAssault to 3, that extra 15% makes the ACR the perfect weapon for me. I know there was supposed to be a bonus to mass driver clip capacity, and it was a shame to see it go. I really don't see how a +1 clip size per level would be OP for it (it really mean it runs out of ammo quicker), but in order to appease the masses, I'd like either a +1 ammo per level or an increase in clip size every other level (1,3,5). This should give the flaylock and MD the loving they deserve.
Its biotic stats are fantastic too. With just an enh kincat, I'm running as fast and for longer than my Cal scout. I squaded up with a few scouts on the Fracture Road Skirmish map and could easily keep up with them running from objective to objective. With just an enh kin cat and reactive plates, I get almost 8.5m/s. The thing regens the energy used for meleeing faster than it can melee a second time (not that that's really useful, just an interesting tidbit). I love these qualities because it allows me to be highly mobile and either get to where I'm needed faster or to evade enemies.
Lastly, it's incredibly versatile, able to field a decent shield tank, armour tank, or my personal choice, a more balanced tank. I like the balanced tank because it uses the strengths of the two tanks to compensate for each other's weaknesses. E.g., the relatively low ehp of shields is assisted by the armor buffer and the low regen of the armor is assisted by the shield buffer, and is still quick enough to disengage enemies in a pinch.
I also think it's the best swarm suit after the MinMando since its speed helps it chase or run from vehicles and it gets a great bonus to arguably the best sidearm (SMG).
The way I play MinAssault is the same way I play scout: avoid direct confrontation and try to work different angles to throw the enemy off, and if you're in trouble, retreat. The speed, hp, regen, and firepower of the MinAssault fit very well with this tactic.
Anyway, thanks CCP for all the changes leading to this, from the assault changes to the secondary defense modules. And thanks for reading! |
