The interesting part of all this is that despite all the claims of Dust's death, our playerbase has slightly climbed over the past few months, if you look at Eve-offline.net. Might be due to kids playing during the summer month when they are off school, but then again, could be a resurgence in player retention.
Honestly, the game has never felt better, though there are still lots of problems.

Honestly, the game has never felt better, though there are still lots of problems. THE PCU is deeply flawed. Logging into the menus counts as being online, so all the people who are farming alts are counted as playing, even though they might never play a match. I am still amazed at the pace of character creation. I have to wonder if it is just a couple of people doing it for a few hours every day or if there is a small group of maybe 100 or so stacking a couple of mill a day. Also, look at the PCU graph for over the last year, then say the game is growing. That graph doesn't even cover the bottom falling out of the PCU after 1.0 was spit out on us. So yes, there is a small group of people who can't let dust go, for whatever reason, but the game is not growing. PCU, I can agree with, not sure if that's indicative of anything. But there is a clear rise in the daily players, though slight, on the 3 and 6 month graphs. Coupling that with what seem to be a rise in noob threads in GD (mercs with 100 likes or less), I'd have to disagree. It's anecdotal to be sure, but an interesting sign that people might be hanging around.
I'm thinking it's either due to summer, or players that tried out Dust a while back, and came back to find a lot of passive SP to play around with. I guess we'll find out in a couple months, since all those kids are going back to school now.
At this point, I find it a hopeful sign, nothing more.
