I'd like to propose a new variant of active scanner (or even a new equipment all its own) that scrambles enemy equipment. One of the biggest problems I have with this game is that once somebody flies a dropship up to a tall structure and places a drop uplink, it's nearly impossible to get them off of it unless you take your own dropship up there, and even then if they're at all prepared they'll have swarms, forges and even more drop uplinks to answer you with. This is incredibly frustrating and makes domination matches an extreme pain, especially on the map with the tall tower right next to the objective. (You know the one.)
The way I see it, the scrambler would use the same model and scanning mechanic/animation as the regular active scanner, making it relatively easy to implement. There are several different ways of balancing such a piece of equipment. It would likely have to be a high-tier variant of the active scanner, maybe level 4 or 5 in operation. Ideally it would destroy equipment and have a long cooldown with a wide radius and a VERY long range (so that it can reach the extremely high uplinks), but it could also be on a shorter cooldown with a more limited range, or possibly even just disable equipment for an extended period of time. It could also have a small cone of effectiveness in order to increase the thought and strategy required by those using equipment, as spreading out equipment will now force the scrambler user to make several passes in order to nullify all of the equipment.
The point is, I don't care how it gets implemented as long as it gets implemented. Droplink and other equipment spam is incredibly tiresome, effective, and without a proper counter. Flux grenades help a lot, but they cannot reach equipment placed on top of structures that can't be reached on foot. This equipment, if implemented properly, will give droplink spam an effective counter while still allowing for skilled players to use uplinks effectively.
Thoughts? I'd love to see a blue tag up in here.
