So long to skill shots, so long to precision, so long to sniping.
This sucks.
Damn CCP and damn all you blueberrys that liked the post when he asked if anyone was in favor of it. If you clicked that thumbs up I am completely convinced that you have no idea what you are talking about and I resent you supporting this abortion of an idea to the degree that it actually came to pass.
Lol, even a range and damage debuff would be better than this nonsense. It's unbelievable. SNIPERS ARE NERFED EVERY TIME IN EVERY UPDATE. AND EVEN IN BETWEEN UPDATES. If Symbiotic's vids haven't shown the dynamism Sniping adds to this game yet then I don't know what will.
Whatever. Kill Sniping. You will still have red line snipers and you will still have people complaining about snipers. What you won't have are people like Symbiotic who actually progress sniping and make it legitimate and respected.
I for one quit. Screw this. See you on legion. Assuming it's not just another COD clone after they decide to get rid of long range engagements all together because all of you don't have enough sense to keep moving and find cover then come on the forums and complain about how you can't kill a sniper with your shotgun.
Gyah.
Amen to a fellow Sniper!
When I first started playing this game about a 1 & 1/2 years ago, I tried really hard to get into the battle directly as a front-line fighter, I was blasted so much into oblivion that my K/D ratio was in the negative zone!!! Try as I much as I did, I never got anywhere just running directly into the fight. Then I as I progressed, I slowly learned that I wasn't cut out for direct combat but I was better at sniping.
So, to be blunt, this latest hotfix is utterly asinine & completely unrealistic!!! Like Guybrush has said but not in so many words, cutting down the range has made sniping one big pathetic joke! When you have to be in the middle of the battlefield just to use a sniper rifle, it is no longer a sniper rifle at all. In fact, it might as well be used as a club because you certainly can't shoot from the hip with it. NO!!!! You have to have the time to line up your scope on the enemy but YOU CAN"T if the enemy is right there with his sub machine-gun blazing away at you! It was bad enough when we were sniping up in the hills with cover & the enemy still came at us, sometimes even dropping their air ships right on top of us or being pinned down by another sniper but that was a acceptable part of the battle because not even a sniper is safe, once they have been located!!! Yet, after this hot-fix, now, the sniper class hasn't a single chance to snipe because they get shot up even before they get a chance to find a spot within range of the enemy!
I don't know what YOU, the programmers were thinking when you nerfed snipers so much that they can't even snipe now with this latest hot fix but it certainly wasn't a realistic adjustment!!!
But Guybrush is right!
If you are going to be in the heat of the battle, you shouldn't expect to be safe anywhere on the battle field except in your own end-zone!
Most importantly, the real power of a sniper, is intimidation. If we, the snipers of this game aren't able to intimidate a enemy so much that they take to cowering on their own side of the field because our range was cut down so drastically, then you have effectively changed the whole outcome of the game with this latest hotfix!!!
SO!!!! What are you going to do in the next hotfix, huh? Are you just going to hotfix this game so much that you end up creating a entitlement situation where everyone is a winner but no one can loose? Loosing is a part of life, YES! But when a player like me whom has found what they are really good at & then you destroy that by nerfing snipers to death, what point is there to playing at all?!?! YOU MIGHT AS WELL GET RID OF THE SNIPER CLASS ALTOGETHER!!!
In short, this latest hotfix has done its job. I never posted s single comment before this but if your goal was to see how many people you could tick off with this unrealistic nerfing of yours, I offer my congrats now because you now have one really pissed off sniper whom is on the verge of getting rid of her copy of the game in spite of the fact that I was blowing between 30 - 40 bucks a month on Aurum so I could buy the 30 day augs & the 7 day omega boosters!!! Yes! I am a repeat customer whom you are going to loose very shortly if you don't put things back the way they were BEFORE hotfix delta!!
Before I go though, IF I can manage, I am going to start one last ditch effort to get enough people to comment here in protest of this latest hotfix which was nothing but a pathetic joke!!
Nuff said!!!

With that logic 90% of the weapons in DUST don't require skill either. Though getting a head-shot on a moving target isn't as simple as point and click (unless you're an idiot who likes running in a straight line), as you have to constantly re-adjust your aim and predict your target's movement path.
Amen to yet another valid point!
Some people are under the erroneous assumption that sniping is easy role to play but Atiim is right on this. The only way that any sniper gets an easy kill is when someone sits still too long or runs in a a straight line. So! Before YOU, the Anti-Snipers cry "BOO HOO" why don't you try Sniping to see what us REAL snipers go through?!?! Getting a solid target resolution can often be tough because the front line players have wised up enough to run in a zig-zag pattern & even while remaining in the same spot, those same players are constantly moving around to avoid getting hit by other front-line players.
To add to this, I have even had a few games where I didn't nail a single target through the entire game session because the enemy front-liners were running around constantly. |
