You can still shield tank although with the higher buffer with armor tanks it's become far more defined that the armor tanks walk about killin' things while the shield tanks have to dodge in and out of cover... but the more slots on suits and the more this becomes evident. At least my Caldari assault can fit the enhanced shield energizer that my Caldari sentinel can no longer fit.
My biggest complaint is that if all suits can naturally regen shields why can't all suits naturally rep armor? Just give Gallente the most passive armor rep, but all suits should have at least 1 armor rep. It's pretty silly that a std caldari sentinel is now garbage being incapable of applying passive rep. It worked okay on the std commando since it's pretty much only good as a sniper so nano repping isn't so bad but the sentinel....
My theory on why shield tanking is generally garbage in comparison to armor is that clone counts are 1 to 1. Higher buffer is better at ensuring you will at least kill one guy while shields you may die first. Compound this with the ever increasing TTK and the possibility that shield tanking had of "ambushing" armor tanks has dropped.
It is essentially the old scout QQ. If you can't kill the target fast enough you being more mobile and ambushing them doesn't matter. |

Interesting, can you send a screenshot of that? He's talking about not being able to fit it on... he's still got the sidearm slot... *facepalm*
No he already confirmed earlier in the thread that he hadn't actually checked the more recent notes or logged online to see that he does still have the sidearm. |

"No respecs will be given." Explain why..... Seriously give us a couple of lines as to why this is? Because you guys don't have the man power I'm assuming. Or you're literally attempting to run people off. GG it's working.

No they don't want to give respecs because they never gave Eve respecs. Most the players bashing respecs are doing so because of the rhetoric, that Eve doesn't get respecs. Eve =/= Dust. I could understand if Dust actually impacted Eve and the games were truly integrated as promised but they aren't, so we need to stop with this "But Eve!" bullshit, it's literally childish.
Punishing your consumers that you want to give a damn about your products every time YOU change **** is not good business practice. |

The SP system will not succeed in a lobby shooter as it is a competitive game style. It's like having online monopoly where the longer players have gamed with Parker Bros. Online the more money they start with at the beginning of games. The reason Dust continued to spiral in new player retention is because the psychology of why people have fun in a competitive environment is counter intuitive to the seniority system that SP has created. An easy example would be World of Warcraft World PvP, which never was popular even in classic and Battlegrounds which didn't get popular until they had matchmaking brackets. Likewise, the most popular PVP arena is generally about equal everything except class composition and team skill.
The reason Eve was popular with the SP system that was copied to Dust is because of the high risk ganking system it supported. In this sense it's comparable to DayZ. These style of games are popular for the fact that if you become good enough you can generally avoid unwanted confrontations and gang up on others to increase your odds etc. However, this is nothing like a competitive arena styled game that Dust is. You have to fight the enemy and you have to fight the enemy on numerically equal terms 16v16 50/50 or 150/150 clone counts. The **** ups go beyond this though, another serious issue balance wise that the game has is trying to copy paste the space naval wars into Dust as well. Now let's suspend for a moment how asinine competing military empires would be if they did not adapt each others tech (IE all races should have their own version of missles, plasma, rails, projectiles, lasers, etc.) but the major issue is that these doctrines don't necessarily mesh well. The minmitar and Amarr weaponry compliments them well, however I find CQC gallente weapons work better on the highly mobile caldari suits while long range rail tech works better on the slow but high buffer gallente suits. |
