Glad to see things turned out well for you, best wishes for you and your wife, hopefully this entire event hasn't sent you to the poor house, seems like you've had enough of a horror story.

9/7 Things are going well. Neurorehab twice a week for about 6 hours at a time, may even be able to return to work on a part-time basis in two weeks or so. Still has some muscles weakness and gets fatigued easily, but has been doing with cognitive exercises.
Tomorrow we'll be speaking with our attorney.

Really glad to hear everything turned out alright. I hope you sue the **** out of that hospital, there's some SERIOUS malpractice going on there. Almost killed your wife due to mistake after mistake. That's just awful.

It gets better: Received a phone call from Liberty Mutual today--they're the ones handling the short-term disability claim. The person handling our case asked if my wife was ready to return to work; the head doctor from the ICU had stated that she'd be ready to return to work by now. Mind you, he was also of the opinion that she should have gone straight home from the hospital and not to rehab!
In the end, the agent spoke with the doctor that oversaw her in-patient rehab and when asked if my wife was ready to return to work, the doctor laughed and let them know that my wife suffered a mild form of "traumatic brain injury" and that her return to work will be a gradual process made under the supervision of a vocational therapist. Either the ICU doctor was trying to cover his own a$$ or is completely clueless is open to debate.

9/18 Wife will be returning to work starting on the 22nd; will work twenty hours that week and, if everything goes well, will be back to a full-time schedule the following week. Will have to take a test in the future to have her driver's license medically cleared, but overall is doing great and it doesn't appear as though there will be any bad lasting effects. She is, however, now on a pretty strict diet of one serving of meat a day, along fruit/veggies at every meal having to drink at least two liters of water everyday--she already had another kidney stone forming around the stent when it was removed last week!
Tomorrow we'll have our first face-to-face meeting with our attorney and set the groundwork for what we're going to do moving forward.

10/21 Things are going well. Wife has returned to work full-time and has had her driving privileges restored. Have signed all of the paperwork with the attorneys are now letting the legal process play out; looks as though it'll actually be two separate lawsuits--one for her actual medical handling and the other for discrimination when the nurses refused to treat her because they thought she was a lesbian.
Has a cystoscopy scheduled for tomorrow; the doctor is worried about a possible blood clot having formed in her bladder following the removal of her stent a few weeks ago. Also mentioned that she had been treated for "acute renal failure" during her time in the hospital. Gee, sure would have been nice if any of the doctors had mentioned that to us at some point!
One thing that we've discovered is that many of the issues that placed my wife into rehab (remember, the intensive care doctor was ready to send her straight home with oxygen!) are very typical of potassium toxicity (weakness of the muscles, heart arrhythmia, etc.) Oh, and that whole deal with Joan Rivers' death being a result of Propofol? Yeah, that's the stuff my wife spent 15 days on!!!
