If a person playes 100 extra games per week, he has now 12 M more SP than those who just capped every week (and every event)

You skilled your alts up every week? I never bothered to do that since I figured if my main had enough sp...I could use him for several roles. Any alt I created were just accruing passive sp. And at this point...they're useless because my main has enough sp to be able to be formidable (for the most part) in any of the roles that my alts were designed to be.

The fact that you have 45M sp across 4 characters warrants enough reason for one to have all of that sp on one character. I'm assuming that those 4 character alts are all different roles, am I correct?
Well, what you and calvin are not getting is the ability to be able to give what your team needs at the moment on a competitive level. Meaning, if you are, primarily, an assault player and the opposition is spamming heavies....then you can switch to a competent heavy fit with skills and compete. If there is tank spam....sure, you can bring out swarms and chase the tanks down for the whole game. Or, you can do what I do...which is pull out a tank with proto turrets and clear the field. Or, maybe your team needs links, or you have heavies that can use a repper, etc.
Having a lot of sp allows you to be really versatile and a valued player on the battlefield. Ask any pc corp how valuable it is to have someone who can slay, place links, tank, ADS, go heavy, all on one character. And with competence, I might add. I don't mean, you have an assault rifle and assault suit maxed out but a STD heavy suit with no skills in proficiency or reload, etc. Or, to be infantry and have an MLT tank or logi with STD equipment.
I'm talking about proto everything with lvl 5 skills...able to compete with whoever is in front of you.

I have 1/3 of the 3 sections for clone upgrade maxed, only thing left is some weapons and suits. I AV, hack, logi, heavy, assault, and on occasion run scout do to boredom. I am at the top of most match leader boards not because I sit on my hands, I am there for I do all I can to win. So do not say Calvin is not getting it. I get it and I get it done 
I'm a level 5 head....so until some skills are level 5, they are incomplete (for me, I mean)..thus, more sp is needed. But honestly, I don't really need it so I won't be grinding for it either.

All large amounts of SP show to me are that you were far too trusting of CCP after Uprising got released. And then after the merc pack shenanigans, and then the armored warfare pack, and so on.

I had 15 active 30 day boosters in the closed beta. They said you would get it back... so I had no issue buying merc packs. The beta lasted for over a year, so I accumulated most of my boosters then. My beta suits used to primarily aura built. Back when the blindside and the killswitch was boss =ƒÿâ.
When they initially brought out omegas... I racked up a few of those. But that's been pretty much it. I used to play a lot... so I never missed an sp cap or event.
