I don't doubt it.
I'm looking to be able to spot enemies on radar and heal up after the fight with the triage nanohives.
Is this a flawed fit? If so, how should I fit it differently? |

nah it's about as good as it's gonna get on an assault. You could pick up some lower level scouts or maybe amarr/minmatar who forfeit damps. The problem is the 15 m range you're going to have

So should I give up on scanning down scouts and slap a damage mod on? |

Might end up working a little better. I'll see how that goes right about now. |

Well you should fit reactive plates and armor repairs to maintain self sustainability, being able to keep the fight going is going to make you richer and happier. First no proper scouts or even brick tanked ones wouldn't fit at least one damper. So get rid of the precision enhancers and stack shields or damage mods.

The precision's not bad, but you need to be at 21db to pick up most Scouts.
That, and you only have 15m so you won't really be that "walking sonar" that you want to be.

Edit: I understand you want to stay Gallente oriented with that pistol but I recommend a smg to shred armor. But then again I still use my Scp on my Ak.0 :D Well the Scrambler Pistol does more damage to armor than what the Ion Pistol does to shields.
Some food for thought

It will come in handy in CQC combat if you're in a building and an enemy is on the other side of the wall but even then you will not be scanning scouts thanks to CCP's "great" scout rebalancing . You will be scanning Medium Frames and heavies if anything so one Complex Mod should be enough as long as medium frames do not decide to dampen with that extra slot.
Even then your speed will not help you with the scanning so it's best to dump it altogether.
If you want to be point defense and stack plates I'm not sure the Assault suit is for you honestly, you can make some defensive builds with it yes but by judging by your fitting you just want a lot of HP so a Gal sentinel will do you much better than a Gallente Assault.
Keep in mind with Gallente Assaults you should try to meet 3 basic Criteria:
Armor Rep above: (8 hp/s Basic) (12 hp/s Adv) (16 hp/s Pro) Sprint speed above 7.34 all suits Armor above: (350 at Basic) (450 at Adv) (550 at Pro)
Anywhere in the range is a decent assault suit. Even greater if you can achieve more than that but this is adjusted for lower SP players.

Kirk knows what he's talking about with the Galassault. He's been running it since it came out.
He's especially right on the EWAR part. It's not worth trying to outfit as an EWAR suit. Even if you do get the precision to scan down scouts (which might not be the case - every single scout is capable of evading the scans from this suit) you only have a 15m range.
Then, after that, you've plated too heavily and you have no local rep.
Also, I recommend fitting for Charlie era assaults now, as that's coming very soon.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.
