A pompous atheist is no better than a pompous religious person.
Also 666 shouldn't even matter if you have no belief in Satan and that in itself is simply rhetoric by religious standards.
I'm not religious but I spent 5 years delving into it and by delving, I mean trying to be Muslim and having a go at Christianity as well. I am very much in control of myself and went into it with no presuppositions and simply ignored any that went into my head.
I still do not believe in god in an abrahamic sense.
Take a look at the latest pictures of the known universe, see how it looks like neural pathways?. Our universe is a physical reality, therefore to create something physical, one must be in or attached/able to interact with that physical thing to do anything.
Keywords for when exploring this - exponential, empty space.
Enjoy.
Here's the most you could possibly translate genesis into reality.
Adam and eve (taken as the males and females of hominids as a whole at the time in africa) moved out of Eden to explore as the temperature starting rising (they simply thought god was doing it) and came across Neanderthals (Nephilim, heroes of old, could beat large beast right?) as the spread out into the other parts of the world. They interbred with the humans (As stated in the bible and also proven with the latest mapping of the Neanderthal genome and with ours).
Noah.
As the huge ice caps from the ice age started melting, water levels would have risen and caused some flooding, nothing major and at best, this is the account of a guy who probably had a hard time but certainly nothing as majestic as what is stated in the bible. Water doesn't just dissapear unless the earths atmosphere was thinner back then which would have allowed more vapour to escape into space. We do lose a fair bit as is now but nothing major. Possibly a group of people on one boat.
Remember that throughout history, you always have 1 guy trying to claim greatness for themselves.
The rest of the bible is literally stories that are plastered over a lot of actual historical events/epochs. The Quran depicts every major player within the whole epic as messengers from god with Mohammad (pbuh for respect to this religion) being the last messenger/Warner from god before the reaping. With a new set of rules that we should be abiding by.
There's a lot more very interesting correlations between science and religion but I CBA to go further lol, I kept it short and sweet.

I really don't get atheists at all. Most people who don't believe in god(s) think they are atheists, not realising atheism is a religion without a god. You can just be an inbetweener. I don't believe in god but I can't prove he's not real. So I'll just stay clear from anoyone trying to convince me otherwise. Science is my religion. So you are a Scientology-ist?
He doesn't strike me as a person who believes in inter dimensional beings called thetins that affect our psyche.
Auditing appears to be trolling in a scientific manner lol.
