Didnt you know this has generated more ISK in DUST's economy then PC for the last 6 months?
And PC players actually take expensive losses.
CCP knew this could happen they even mentioned it. what else is new? a problem CCP new about yet does nothing to fix. The story of DUST.
Maybe we can nerf and buff something for the 200th time, that oughta make it all better this time I swear! Mental capacity of a Gnat. |

I can only generate about 10 million on Academy Alts every 20 hours, with an absurd amount of PSN accounts, and it's an incredible pain in the ass (which is why I only do it when necessary). Blue Doughnutters could accomplish this in a few matches, with little to no effort or loss.

Customers have sent us reports of serious grind, however, uber dedicated members have detailed reports of pushing the limits of clone farming to unhealthy, EVE-like mining levels.

sadly you're thinking inside CCP Shanghai's small box of thoughts. CCP Reykjavik however has learned that you can make infinite email accounts with a simple script, then make infinite DUST accounts without any need for a playstation. Then it is simply logging on and biomassing... People like grinding... And will grind the same boss in borderlands 200 times to get a rare gun. Open mind and look at the patterns of users.
This should not be a surprise.. People generate hundreds of mils a day. |

This should not be a surprise.. People generate hundreds of mils a day. There are a couple things to note that you are missing. While yes, an 'infinite' number of accounts may be created via junk e-mails, they must be linked with a PSN junk email. At this time a console must be used to log into Dust 514 with this linked PSN account. Sony will only allow 16 accounts to be active at any one time on a PS3 system, and 64 accounts to any single system. With the current starting ISK of 250k a theoretical user can grind 27 clones, 9 accounts in the span of 1 hour with current Dust514 log in times. This equates to 6.75m ISK. This means it would take around 8 hours to grind all 64 accounts if a player so chooses by logging out and in of active accounts. This would net a player 48m ISK in an 8hr period by which they could begin again on the first account started in a 2 hour break by terminating clones (biomass timers run 10hrs).
While this is a monumental grind to many, there are those willing to attempt it and this should be a problem addressed by CCP developers. The quickest solution would be to eliminate starting clone ISK, or reducing it to an amount which makes farming clones highly impractical. The best isk generation source for starter/mid-level players is grinding 5-10 minute ambush matches which equate to 140k to 180k payouts. If we were to take the low end of this pay out and extend it out to an hour a merc would make 840k ISK. A 5.91m ISK difference between playing the game and farming. Now if we divide the ambush grind payout by the 27 accounts a player can theoretically grind in an hour (840,000/27) returns 31,100 ISK. Bumping this up to 50,000 would be more clean and only make a nominal impact in terms of account farmed ISK.
TL;DR Account farming is an issue. Get rid of it by either removing starter account ISK or lowering it to 50k. With regards, Jadek's helpful alt. |

pretty easy to get around Sony's limitations.. even linking the email without a playstation access.
Starting ISK should be there as it is needed for players... But there should be a quest or some process that the new player has to do to get gifted that isk to then use.
There just needs to be more of an intricate quest process when starting to receive the ISK, to get rid of alot of the automation and render the same time investment as just playing a match.

Definitely agree. Do you think 50k is a good starting amount? Like you said, a player could gain more ISK bonuses by completing tutorial/quest specific challenges. |

Hard to say skills are expensive.. Would probably need to give a basic dropsuit skill voucher.. So you get one free dropsuit allocation.
Would almost seem easier to just start with 0 isk a set of Militia items relevant to their race, Tell them to make their own Militia fitting then reward them with 100-125k, then give them the next reward after their first match so they can further invest in skills. |

I remember when they pre-allocated your skills based on your chosen discipline back in closed beta. That was sort of useful because it gave immediate player direction, but it lacked some of the ability for players to experiment before they dove into a class.
I do like your suggestion. |
