I know hotfix hotfix but as a cal heavy I really don't care about armor rep tools.
I'm sure other shielded fat guys feel the same

Give all current rep tools a 1hp/s shield kick starter so shields are always regenerating while being repped. Bam, Shield rep tools.

This! I can rep on my sentinel. It's that prick with the milia AR that pings you from 100m to restart the delay. we need a tool that bypasses recharge delay. |

Armor rep tools function with or without support from module reps.
I DO NOT support adding shield rep to the armor tool.
I can make my cal-sent rep like 70-something shield as is, but not forcibly. (outside of hugging my own flux)
Handheld shield boosters should OVERRIDE suits delay, but give shield in pulses like old vehicle modules. I'm thinking 1.5~2 second pulses, no more than 15/25/30 given base regen on a well fitted cal suit. 1st edit (with initial charge being immediate, and a relock speed same as pulse delay to prevent quick pulsing) 2nd edit (with lower WP reward)

Bypassing (and to a lesser degree jumpstarting) innate shield delays, especially with flat rep values instead of relative percentages, always carries the problem that armor and hybrid tanks would benefit from such a mechanic aswell. The same isn't true for armor reps on shield due to how shield is always depleted before armor.
Flat shield reps still soak armor damage taken, thus scale with armor buffer and regen just as with shield buffer, making the tool equally useful for both tank types.
I'd prefer a remote hardener tool that significantly boosts shield resistances (in the 15% region, stackable with penalties). This means a large increase in effective regen and buffer as every shield point is worth more.
This way one will have to be shield focused to benefit the most from this tool in the same way armor reps rarely help shield tanks (unless you run heavy or hybrid/brick i.e. stack armor aswell). It also gives a nice duality where armor tanks with reps are good for prolonged engagements (efficacy of reps inversely proportional to incoming dps) and shield tanks with hardeners can withstand short bursts of extreme damage better (linear scaling).
You can take a benign object, -you can take a cheeseburger and deconstruct it to its source...

My first thought was a hardener tool. I scrapped that idea quickly. The armor crowd would erupt into cries for their own. I like your science guy approach, but the reality is dust players exploit anything not nailed down. (hollow crates at Charlie? member dem?) Shield repper can only rep shield, and armor, armor. AND LAST ONE FIRED BOOTS ORIGINAL STREAM, zero dual streaming Now yesyesyes, an amarr could try to benefit from a shield tool, but by keeping rates low, suits that slap extenders and have a 15hps shield regen are gonna fall to any ole iron. Much like I could try to stick with an armor rope while I'm cal sent.... but I won't. I've got a cardiac on the right so I can cry FORWARD
I don't dual tank my cal fits, I want my mobility. I learned long ago I'm an oddball though. I would like to kick in a door once in a while though and live long enough to spread the word...
I don't want a god tool or a win button. I just want to climb on the monkey bars too guys

Afterthought ~ tools would need fitting restrictions much like vehicle turbo, or cloaks. No dual tooling

With 4/1 slot loadout (zero change) .. and zero changes to extenders .... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say ........ they aren't changing at all

don't think i saw anything new for the calsent at all...
as for the shield tool i think that a shield regulator tool is the way forward, it would literally just kickstart the shield reps on the heavy suit when they duck into cover, so because it doesn't give direct hp it won't be op, it will still use the rep stats of the shields it's repairing so energisers, rechargers, etc will still be meaningful. the logi can keep it on the heavy as if it were an armour rep for their guardian points. and speaking as a calsent it would mean after getting fluxed, staying in the lof for too long, etc it would be invaluable for getting the main portion of health back up, and even more so on non depleted shields.
if you go for any thing that adds small amounts of health then when the first bit of healthgoes on a stray bullet will reset the delay to a non depleted delay which is longer... a problem we already have.
ever noticed your depleted shields taking far too long to start repairs? |

Shields can force shields to regen. Prime example are shield boosters for vehicles and the previously removed shield transporters for vehicles where you could aswell choose from remote armor reps or remote shield modules.

Do you even use a Cal sentinel? What do you mean OP? Please tell me I like to hear this one. If a sentinel would be OP it sure as hell will not be the Cal. |
