I can't be the only one tired of this.
Can we at least discuss ways to mitigate this? Perhaps incentive for people not to bail a match in the first place? Incentive to those who fill their slot? A lock on the last portion of a match?
While I have a hard time believing anyone would be directly against fixing this however I believe the biggest mitigating factor is keeping the matches full. |

Reduce payouts if player quits early...and fix the stupidity of joining an in progress battle and getting pittance.
Oh, and let us ******* sell our damn salvage or get ******* rid of it and increase payouts already! The whole damn point of salvage was being able to sell it (Soon ******* TM) to compliment your payout.

This and other Battle/Matchmaking issues are on a off-cadence "fix" list that's not connected to the named Hotfixes.

K/D(r) matchmaking fixes the whole game. Period. It even fixes WP/D(r).

Imo it's a reasonable suggestion(we are mercs working under contract, after all) but with the idiocy that is passive in-match sp this would just guarantee an MCC party for risk adverse peeps who don't really like a fight.
That passivesp mechanic distorts battlefield gameplay in DUST in several different ways, none of them good.
P.S. Wrt the OP, agreed: late joining is something we need to fix asap: it's a terrible game experience and auto-flags DUST to potential players as a product that is flat-out gimped in it's most basic matchmaking mechanics.

Contractual Obligations should apply. Leaving a match should induce a 50k isk penalty for breaking the contract, and if that player tries to join another match he should be returned to the same match he previously left if it is still running. Maybe stack a 10-15 minute penalty before being allowed to join another match may work as well. League of Legends deals with this in a similar fashion. |

Honestly you'll need to remove the ability for people to see who they are facing in pubs.
If there is a squad of a known corp on the opposing team most don't bother doing much of anything.

Then AFK or low WP should do the same.
If I'm playing solo I'll leave a match in a heartbeat if too many blues are licking windows in the redline or on towers.
