Thank You Community for doing a great job of almost convincing me think that my long-beloved HMG might actually have a problem. So, I took all of those SP I recently invested in CRs and outfitted a Galmmando G-1 Series with some BK-42 ACRs. First match, 15-2 and it's only getting better. Don't let me be able to fit those Boundlesses... Then, I took the same setup and rigged it with 2 'Toxin' ARs. 17-1 on their first outing with what is supposed to be the worst rifle class in the game right now (and a significantly cheaper fitting)
I'm readjusting to the Rifle class, and it's been bumpy, but wow... why have I not done this before?
Now, to the title issue: You say the HMG is a Spray n' Pray weapon? Try 2 maxed out rifles. Longer ranged, far more accurate spray time. Reload both of them in less than half of the time it takes to reload 1 HMG. All the movement of an Assault class dropsuit just to light up every cutesy little Scout scrub that tries to sneak up on somebody.
And my main point is to dismiss a point I tried to make last week. The Headshot Kill bonus on the HMG is not wrong. I got more HSKs from the rifles than I ever have with a HMG.
TL,DR; Buff Assaults, because everything else is just fine. FotM Scouts, your complaining about FotM Heavies is completely unfounded. Git Gud.

B-B-BUT WE DON'T HAVE 1400 HP BRO I'm a 4x Racial Heavy with maxed Heavy Weapons. I don't QQ about anything because I can switch it up at any given time and run any other class as well. I finally just got sick of being a bystander in all of the calamity and have started doing my own research. What did I learn? Scouts, Logis, Commandos, Sentinels - all working just fine. Assaults - suck.
If they want 1400 HP, they shouldn't be running into battle in a Recon/Intel frame. It's just that simple. There are guys that can go SlayerScout, but they're not the average crybaby forum scrub. A typical HMG user is supporting 2 Mercs. Himself and his Logi. Why shouldn't it have the firepower of 2 Rifle users? Trust me, you should be glad there aren't 2 more people on the field with Kalaakiota Rail Rifles.

How would you buff the assaults Ryno? 2 more slots with more CPU/PG, better Survivability Bonuses, base HP buff, slight Scan buffs, etc. My favorite idea so far is 2 Grenade slots, where you can fit 2 different types of grenades (i.e. Flux+Locus, Locus+AV) but never 2 of the same type (i.e. Flux+Flux, Locus+Locus) They'll need to have healthy incentives to convince people to even try them because they've been so bad for so long.

GÖªI addressed the 2 classes of Scouts: FotM crybaby forum scrubs, and Scout Vets (who know their limitations and play the role so that it works for them) in their own regards. ***OK, apparently I deleted that part of the post...Oops. Scout Vets = Good, Crybabies = Suck. GÖªRifles can't drop 10 people in one clip. Realistically, neither can a HMG. After 4-5, you're reloading or cooling it down. I would say that in the time it takes to Kill 5, reload, and Kill 5 more, I could Kill 3, reload, Kill 3, reload, Kill 3 more, and reload again - with pinpoint accuracy. The TTK is a wash.
Honestly, if a HMG user kills 10 people in a row, it's because the enemy was grouped too tightly, unaware of their TacNet, and using super **** fittings.

This is why people complain. Bigger picture: Damage per Minute Base Reload time on a HMG is 8 seconds. (13.5% of a minute) Base Reload time on an AR is 3 seconds. (5% of a minute.)
The ability to apply Damage over time seems to swing in the favor of Rifles. Can you even overheat an AR, CR, or RR?
There are other factors at play other than raw DPS when comparing the 2?

I like CPU/PG idea. A bit of HP buff is good too. And yes to passive scan buffing. I'm really liking the two grenade slot option! Why not? A frontline soldier should have some versatility. Though I believe its a bit of wishful thinking to get that on my part but who knows? Would any of you trade an EQ slot for an extra grenade slot ? I'm just asking , I am in favor for everything that Ryno mentioned because it's almost identical to my thoughts as well . I just don't know if they would allow two grenade slots and a EQ slot . The only difference was that I was thinking of two grenade slots on Commando's but Assaults would be nice too . It sound alright to me and would give that role something that the others don't have as well . It would be nice to see every role with the ability to do something that the others couldn't . I'd absolutely make the exchange. Leave the Equipment to Logis and Scouts. Let the Assaults storm the castle with little regard what lays in their wake. Uplinks and Scans are Recon/Intel duty for the Scouts with Reps and Rezz belonging to Logis - in a coordinated Team effort. Assaults need the ability to make holes and clear paths for the support and anti-resistance roles.

Sprint reload glitch my friend. Sprint Reload Glitch isn't all that it seems. When it works, it only cuts off about 2 seconds. That being said, it is somewhat inconsistent, forced you to go forward (which usually isn't a good thing to be doing while attempting to reload and activate a glitch. And, if it doesn't work, your reload time just bumped up to about 14 seconds - which is almost certain death.

How about the biggest picture... damager per day... wait what? I get that your post is in a good humored context, but for everyone who lives by literal meaning: When considering Damage from one weapons class to another we have to look at all of the factors that apply to applying damage. With such a disparity in Reload times, we have to capture a length of time long enough to include such a number.
