The Combat Rifle, Rail Rifle and the Scrambler Rifle seem to kinda ignore their damage base. All of them can shred through shields and armor with ease. While the Plasma Rifle makes you think twice before taking on a fully armor tanked suit. Which actually makes the Plasma Rifle the most balanced rifle out of them 4.
Since Rail Rifle has high alpha damage, it negates it's -10 against shields. Scrambler Rifle has high DPS per shot plus the charge shot. Makin it's -20 against armor behave like the -10 against shields the Rail Rifle has but ignores. And the Combat Rifle's -5 against shields and +10 against armor makes it seemingly OP. And even the Militia variant can down any type of suit in seconds.
Now this issues will be kinda hard to fix without completely these rifles useless.
We also need a price reduction for the specialized variants of the rifles. It would make more sense since all of the special variants of all the rifles completely under-perform the original variant. Of course excluding the Assault Combat Rifle. Unless they are given a small damage buff they will be overpriced and under-performing.
The killfeed says it all. All you see is Rail Rifles, Combat Rifles and HMGs dominating it. (And because the Scrambler Rifle is rarely seen in the killsfeed that doesn't mean it's still unbalanced when it comes to it's damage type)

ScR doing awesome damage to armor? What are you on?
Have you ever tried taking on an Amarr/Gallente Sentinel by yourself with a ScR? Not very fun. |

And unless the Gal/Amarr Sentinel are near you with their HMGs then you can take hem out rather quick. Charge shot and follow by a sequence of shots, stop right before overheating and repeat.
I have done it many times and succeeded 8/10

This is a common way for my armor tanked fatsuits to die. Not so much for the caldari one but I stay out of shot range of most rifles when tankhunting. |

Soooo what, you want +50/-50 shield/armor damage or something? The whole point of damage profiles is to make them better or worse at doing damage to a certain HP type, the point is NOT to make them impossible at killing a certain type of HP. If you don't think damage profiles don't make a significant difference, then you never faces a Gallente heavy with a SCR.

But go use a Plasma Rifle against a shielded enemy. Even tho it has -10 it wouldn't be that noticeable and can down it's shields in 3-4 shots (If it's not a Caldari Heavy)
Now use a Plasma Rifle against an armored enemy. You will see how the -10 against armor applies with the Plasma Rifle.
And unless I am within the heavy's HMG's optimal range, I can down him easily with a ScR

Spray and pray weapons which rifles are compared to knives, shotguns, forge guns and sniper rifles... Are far more lag tolerant, easier to quickly adjust your aim against a moving target and do a very handsome DPS at a relatively safe range.
Kind of makes sense since rifles are the default weapon and the more specialized weapons are more situational.

It most in a way that all weapons feel the minus damage they each do to either armor or shields without making one (if not all of them) UP.

Ahh sarcasm.
I just want the rifles to acknowledge the existence of their weakness. Like the Plasma Rifle does.

This is a result of optimal range, not damage profiles. You have to be a lot closer to a heavy to hit him with an Assault Rifle than you do to hit him with a Scrambler Rifle. This is not unintentional. The Assault Rifle is meant to be used against light and medium drop suits at medium range, while the Heavy Machine Gun and Heavy are meant to repel Assault Rifles out of their optimal range so the rest of the infantry can advance.
If you want to fight heavies with a rifle, bring anything but an Assault Rifle. That's kind of how it should be. |
