If Project Legion becomes something more than a prototype, we will not leave our DUST 514 players behind. You would be able to bring your character name, applicable skills/inventory, and other elements of progression with you. We are still working on the details and we will have more to announce soon.
I don't know the rationale behind saying "if" Legion gets released.
CCP Shanghai has devoted the largest portion of it's development team to Legion and is no doubt pouring hundreds of labor hours into it a week... CCP would not spend that kind of money on Legion after so recently putting Dust 514 on the backburner unless it wants to Legion go live.

Everything else was pretty much spot on.

TYCHUS MAXWELL wrote:You should read up on the history of gaming companies like Midway Games and such if you actually believe this to be true. To give you the short answer though if you don't want to look it up. Games get scrapped all the time even when they are nearly finished. And sometimes they get resurrected and people find out why it got canned in the first place like say Duke Nukem Forever.
Until Legion is actually released, there is no guarantee it will be released.
I'm aware some games are "aborted" after months or years of development. They are the exception to the rule. The majority of the time, if a game developer devotes months of work (see: tens of thousands of dollars) in developing a game they will eventually release it.

Based on past performances, companies typically want to release a game because releasing it is the only way to make money. I'm basing my statements on the idea that companies don't want to set fire to money; which I think we can both acknowledge is true.

They cancelled World of Darkness. It was never released due to layoffs and Dust 514 being developed at the time. If we hear about CCP laying off Legion team members then I will begin to worry, but I haven't heard of anyone on the Legion team being laid off since fanfest. Have you?
