The reason myofibs are the least used module (aside from PG upgrades) is that melee really just isn't good in this game. The base melee damages are too small for any fewer than 3 myofibs to give a powerful effect.
Also, melee is much too hard to hit with, esp. with super backpedal and the power of rapid fire weapons in CQC. In all cases you'd be better with NK's/ SG.
It is also difficult to track targets in CQC, making melee nearly useless.
What if base melee damage was buffed, and myofibs also slightly increased the range of melee attacks?
The maximum range would be ~3-4m. Would this be OP?
No. A SG will do it better every time, unless its a heavy frame, in which case speed will be a non-factor, and avoiding/getting out of range would be easy.

So melee could reach more than Knives? No.
They should have more range than currently, but not more so than Knives... ever. Damage is alright, in my opinion.
Thing is: -it's nearly impossible to get that second hit on a decent opponent -hit detection -already mentioned range, but a little adhesion would help. Not Destiny adhesion, but a little more than we have now (if any).
Instead of buffing range and attack, what if it was attack and speed that was buffed? (Credits go to some dude from my thread that's nearly identical to this one). |

base melee is there for a option of last resort and no we are not ment to make ali and tyson look like playground punchers.
anyway base melee is based on suit types.
if you want a boxer try a caldari or mini heavy suit with 2 complex myofibs. 150 damage base + 225 from the mods with pasive mod buff = 375 damage a punch. that will ohk my scout 2hk a medium and some commando's and 3-4hk a heavy.

Or, a cal scout with 5 complex myofibrils and 2 complex cardiac regs for over 400 dmg a punch and enough stamina for lots more punches

I think about melee as a weapon and myofibryl are it's proficiency. Current state of melee is that you can kill nobody with it till you reach proficiency 5.

Myofibril, Amar Commando, ASCR, SG, Rep Tool. Great CQC fitting, and there's nothing like someone running around the corner to take out a Sentinel's logi, only to get punched in the face by a commando.

But adding Jump height to them would be incredibly useful.

While i think it'd be cool, it would make armor suits ridiculously OP as they could just stack 3 myofibs and strafe faster than a Minja while stacking 800 armor.

5 complex myrofibrils on a minmatar assault/caldari logi is pretty damn lethal. Though, the adv and standard are not worth running

My first skill was melee more than one year ago and i never regret it. I was use in caldari logi first with 600hp damage , it was really hard to survive but really funny to kill someone with a scanner hit. But my best suit is the mko scout min with around 500hp melee damage and my record was 55-5 with no gun,just my nova in my hands.
Don t forget there is 5 kind of movements with melee: horizontal(with nova for exemple) ,vertical(with scanner for ex.) gun hit (with a gun ) ,elbow hit (with item on your hands) and punch hit. (with commando or heavy suit) And all of this kind of attack can change the situation,the range of melee and maybe the hit detection?
But i notice that :melee is a little bit like the nova,if you failled because the red move a little bit ...you re dead. After if the shotgun is better than melee? not for me because when you shoot you ll be seen on the radar and not with the melee.So why don t only use knife? because with melee you are more speedy in the attack.So i prefered knive with melee than shotgun specially in scout min.
The problem with myofib. is you need 3 minimum to kill someone with one hit and your proto suit will have 125 hp shield....so if someone can see you...it ll be the end for you. If you choose melee you ll able to doing only with this because melee need too much sacrifice on your suit .
I heard than cko commando can make around 1000 hp melee? it ll be funny
For me melee is only for scout mko.
