In one of the most dramatic days in OeddelufGÇÖs history, Bons Bank of New Eden filed for bankruptcy protection and hurtled toward liquidation.
The humbling moves, which reshape the landscape of New Eden finance, mark the latest chapter in a tumultuous summer in which once-proud Dark Taboo financial institutions have been brought to their knees as a result of hundreds of billions of isk in losses because of bad team management and lack of available allies.
The stunning series of events culminated a weekend of frantic around-the-clock battles, as no life neckbeards huddled in badly named chat channels to try to avoid a downward spiral of Escrow holdings stemming from a crisis of confidence.
It remains to be seen whether the loss of districts, which were worth more than 200 million isk prior to hotfix bravo, will be enough to finally turn the tide in the summerlong financial crisis that has crippled EscrowGÇÖs holdings and threatened the broader Dark Taboo alliance.
What will happen to BonGÇÖs 100 some employees remains unclear. Many will likely move to pubstomp corps like 1.UP where they will continue to make life difficult for new players.
The bankers were told that the CCP would not bail out Bons Isk Bank by despawning timers as they had done earlier for Rebellion TLC. which was on the verge of losing their remaining holdings to Outer.Heaven.
Without developer backing, Bons Isk Bank began trying to find a buyer, focusing on Fatal Absolution, the Molon Labe, and New Age Empire. At the same time, other Dark Taboo executives grew more concerned about their own precarious situation.
On Monday at noon, Mr. Bons and Mr. Rought cemented a deal to transfer most of Bons Isk Banks remaining holdings in exchange for a payment on Bons debts. It could not be determined if Mr. Bons would play a role in the new company, but two people briefed on the negotiations said they did not expect him to stay.
The collapse of Bons Isk Bank is a devastating end for ERA farmers everywhere. Mr. Roman, who steered Bons Isk Bank through near-death experiences in the past, was nowhere to be found.
