I just started playing dust recently(yesterday), however I've been playing Eve for almost 2 years now. I was previously considering getting the Eve Collector's edition for several of the things that it comes with. I'm trying to fully understand the BPOs for Dust that come in that pack.
From what I've been able to gather, CCP removed any other way for new players to get BPOs, right? So this is one of the few current ways to obtain them? How good are the items these BPOs yield vs. the starting militia gear? Do you think I would use them for quite a while? |

They are okay.
Basically amount to a Racial Specialised suit of each frame size.
By this I mean the
"Templar" Assault falls under the skill benefits of the Amarr Assault and not the Amarr Medium Frame.
They certainly are better IMO than most BPO dropsuits but the weapons are just as normal.
They basically are only useful for farming ISK if you feel the need to.

I love my Templar set. Makes my link suit and forge suit cheaper. Hell, I used the logi suit to place links and then fight reds for the longest time. The Amarr logi with the ScR really ain't bad for a mostly free suit. I think my build cost 12 k ISK. Plus they look real sexy.

The suits apply their respective racial bonuses which is a big plus over the respective mlt and basic gear--particularly if you skill into the Amarr assault and make use of the laser and scrambler rifle cool down bonuses.
You could also get a decent bit of ISK (300mil+) selling the set code to another enterprising Dust player.
Want ISK? I'm giving it away!

I don't use Amarr gear, but if they had a 'Templar' Commando I could see a pretty badass fit:
'Templar' Commando A-1
'Templar' Scrambler Rifle 'Templar' Laser Rifle
Militia Armor Repairer Blueprint Militia Damage Amplifier Blueprint
'Templar' Drop Uplink.
Costs absolutely nothing, but it'd be pretty darn effective for the cost.
Amarrians have Fashion Sense, Matari have Common Sense.
But in DUST Caldari have all the things!

They're awesome, however if you've picked this point in time to give money to CCP, for Dust514, you need a slap.
Destiny won't kill Dust.
CCP already did that.

Pretty sure he is considering it for the EVE items and wants to know if the templars are a nice bonus but thats only my interpretation.
@OP I love my templars. I have all 3 suits at level 5 and the ScR at prof 4 so the bonuses certainly make them feel much better to me. |

The race I chose for my character is Gallente. I haven't put any SP into anything specific for Gallente(yet at least). I don't fully understand all of the different racial bonuses in Dust yet. My question is, if I were to get these and have the appropriate skills to use them properly, are there any amarr bonuses I wouldn't have since my character isn't the amarr race? Or are all racial bonuses simply gear and/or skill based and not actual race of character based? |

The only thing your race affects is how your mercenary quarters looks and what race your starter fit is. All racial bonuses are skill based and you can view then in the skill tree. Note that racial bonuses are only applied to specialzed gear (scouts, assaults, logistics, and sentinels) and not the basic frames (light, medium, heavy) |

I'd do it for the Scrambler Rifle BPO alone. But to be fair, I'm a ScR who-or. |
