Anything else I missed? Proto losers? Lol um ok. Never heard of good competition ruining a game lmao.
Are you all really that delusional that you think running around with better gear is more competition? That's the antithesis of competition.
Seriously, have none of you watched an Esport that has rpg elements? Nobody likes them because they are usually boring as hell, but for instance take World of Warcraft. A lower character can't be expected to handle pvp against a higher level character.
But this isn't what they do in tournaments. In tournaments, IE a competition, everyone is the same level with the same gear for their respective class. The variance comes down to team composition and player skill.
Dust isn't a competitive game, stop trying to pat yourselves on the back. Like I always say, it's cool if you like to run better gear then the other guys so that you can win, but please stop being delusional in confusing those wins and higher k/dr with being skilled. If you were good you wouldn't want to use proto gear in the first place. Poor sportsmanship is poor sportsmanship.
As to why I would guess the OP added the older your character the better your character system adding to the game dying here's some of my copypasta:
So how many people would find it fun to play monopoly with me if I got a 10000 dollar handicap?
It is absolutely a game, but it doesn't obfuscate the fact that this question and the obvious answer that most people give is why the community never grew. CCP never created a good outlet for the rat race, (In fact they compounded the issue with the power climbing isk drowning PC system) and they never created a matchmaking system so yes as there was no one around to tell you that you couldn't take that 10000 dollar handicap, you did.
If you want to know why people don't want to play this game go watch some FPS Esports. Ask yourself some of these questions.
1. Do the players have any inherent advantages from the game mechanics and if so how drastic are they?
2. Does Dust have a level playing field ignoring personal skill?
Common sense dictates that most people do not like to play a game or a sport when they are at a clear disadvantage. No football field is asymmetric in yards. Most people do not want to play monopoly with a player that starts with more money. No one wants to play Call of Duty if the Barrette .50 cal takes several months to unlock and one shot foot shots players. Most servers banned the AWP in Counter Strike for this very reason. Most of the community seems to throw out the window this common sense with their "Y the new guys mad tho, y don't they htfu?"
I'm not saying you can't use your handicaps when you feel like it, but for the love of god quit bragging or whining that you are always fighting scrubs. If you want easy mode fine, but don't pretend you are some MLG hotshot because of it. I have never seen a squad without proto gear actually matter in their tactics. Not saying it will happen but it never really weighs all that much versus player skill. Most the guys I've seen go 40+ in kills who weren't in a vehicle or sniping newberries were also barely surviving multiple scrapes with 30-60 armor left in their proto suits, usually with another proto suit nearby providing more dps. Often the highest killing players are Roughly down to 10-20% of their ehp that only exists because they have superior suits.

There are 2 ways to make money in this game.
Revive the Blue Donut
Or
Farm alts
Thats it. Thats Dust. Crying about proto? Well go make some ISK and run proto. If you seriously think you are suppose to somehow magically profit of pubs or somehow stock your gear through the LP store you are a moron. If you are getting beat by proto, run proto (although ADV does fine for the most part, maybe proto suits for the cpu/pg. Seriously, go compare stats). If you want to whine and cry about not having ISK, you are doing it wrong. There is a reason this game is dead. All you new folks can talk all you want about how alive it is, but it is dead. All the crying about proto is hilarious, because when you fools actually wake up, start making ISK, and start running proto, you will realize that the games balance is going in a giant circle, never progressing. Then you will leave, the next group will come in, cry about proto, spend money, nerfs will be made, people will level up, call for buffs, realize the game is going in a circle, they will leave, the next group will come in, cry about proto, spend money, nerfs will be made........
Anyone remember that Lamb Chops kid show from back in the day?
This is the song that doesnt end, yes it goes on and on my friend......
And all the while CCP is sucking money and pride straight out your bunghole. Don't believe me? Take note of this post, then watch it disappear.
CCP, we can end this song and dance. Of course, you'd have to remove my alt army, losing around 40 something "players". Or you can keep simply banning each account without deleting them. I guess that way you don't lose a quarter of the "player base".
A new guy in proto is worse then my adv. That's because I have more SP and therefor have Cores. In no way does this change anything I posted before if you happened to be responding to me though. The point of what I said was that most humans don't like unfair competition. As humorous as it would be at first for Mike Tyson to box Bob the Accountant, it would immediately get old since we know Tyson will always win and most people who aren't sadists will stop watching.
You can always tell people they should join into your rat race and get proto gear but they can always and have in droves said, "Nah I'll just play something else."
This game will never be popular because it's not something most people will find fun, even amongst gamers. It's literally for most just a f2p crappy shooter with bad mechanics. As to the fools that pay for the game, that can't be helped. Most of them foolishly paid on the assumption that they were going to get a completely different product. Kickstarter and early access is incredibly popular. It's also incredibly abused even before CCP came around with Dust. People will just have to learn not to give money for what a game should be but give money for what it is. But, people actually pay money to play Candy Crush constantly instead of playing Bejeweled for free so who am I to say what people will actually blow money on? |
