1) Grind away obtaining SP and ISK 2) Use unallocated SP to skill into stuff
This is where it starts to get confusing to me.
3) Can't use proto gear for anything but PC 4) Never participate in PC (90%+ of Dust) 5) Get beaten down by people in squads 6) Refuse to get into a squad to improve odds against squads

I thought that team deploy in FW would have relieved the stomping from pubs. But they f'd up the LP payouts and didn't provide team deploy.

I dont mind proto in pubs. If ISK was given in FW i would never play pubs. Running proto in pubs is different then protostomping. But if you use lesser gear,'why do you run crap gear?' Happy medium, a mix of thats how the game is and vast majority of the playerbase are idiots or too poor or dont have the know-how or resources to counter it. And apparently ADV gear is never mentioned. Is ADV gear 'crap gear' to or is it a neutral ground that no one wants to use? Not talking all of you, but you know who you are.

What are the incentives to actually Play PC? Just "more currency"? I have ISK to fill that role. Gear? Can already use ISK at better ratios to buy gear. No benefits found.
If you need to be in a squad in order to get any wins... You seriously have to look at yourself and think hard about why you are playing this game.

It's wayyyy beyond ISK. I'm not good enough of a player to have riches from PC. I don't PC all that often because there are usually better players online. Although I'm back to logi now and I'm a f'n badass logi.

Just frustrated. I don't have fun playing Dust anymore.
There are one or two PC's most nights but those don't last very long and normally they are at times when my kids are supposed to be going to bed and all that stuff.
People make all these excuses about getting protostomped and stuff. But in reality they are just too lazy to get into squads and sort their fits out in order to be somewhat competitive.
To be honest I think most people playing Dust have been screwing off for so long they don't even know how to put a squad together or what to do while in one.

How thick is your retarted ******* skull that you cant understand that a squad of 6 players using proto against abunch of randoms is fair. Your mom mustve dropped you on your head hard to be this stupid. Dont you remember when you started and you would get stomped by proto. I do. Do i use proto in pubs? Only particle cannons. Can i run proto suits? Yes but there is no reason to run proto against a bunch of random blubs. I hope you get proto stomped 24/7 from now on.

hate the player or hate the game is the question
I play skirmish 99% of the time and also I play solo 95% of the time as my job is very sociable and I play games for me time. that being said over half the time I play I will top our team on the leader board and if I play a full game and am not in the top 3 its very rare indeed, the only exception is if I am trying something random like my current fetish for nova knives.
if we look at skirmish - I would say 70% + play solo like myself and normally there is one squad in the game so its on one side which creates unbalance. if we look at suit composition its something like 10% starter 20% militia 35% basic 25% advanced and 10% proto. really 65% of the people in game have such a low chance vs the 10% who use proto in combat that its very demoralising for them being cannon fodder. As much as I hate to see a coward if your basic suit costs 15k and you die 15 times and get low WP's your making a significant loss. most squads I face - (I seem to be a counter balance and rarely have a squad on my side) are a squad of vets or single corp - this confidence in ability means that they will almost always be running the top level of gear in the game stacking its use on one side.
95% of people on the forums talk of counters, on these forums I am at the lower end of middle of the road SP wise with 26mil SP's quite a few have over double me. At my SP level I now have the versatility to counter most things to some extent or another yet when I am in game I believe that I am in the top 10%-15% SP wise. most people in game cannot dream of the options I have for a long time yet, and if they perused a jack of all trades master of none approach they would not be very affective at anything.
take myself as an example of options
26mil SP's
weapons
proto level HMG swarms combat rifle scrambler rifle
advanced nova knives scrambler pistol grenades remotes forge gun
suits
proto mini scout
advanced minmitar medium frame minmitar heavy frame
basic minmitar logistics minmitar commando minimitar sentinel minmitar assault dren suits
equipment
advanced uplinks nanohives rep tool needles
basic active scanner
my best counters are based on where my SP's are so I can be good at AV, anti scout, slaying, hacking, setting up uplinks, yet when the needs arise I can be a logi bro and help the team out. a heavy to clear stiff defence and all at a similar level to what I believe the majority of the player are at as their main specialisation. How can you tell these players to get good or counter things when they do not a viable counter yet? for most solo proto setups I have a counter in an advanced fit or bellow ( I do not use proto besides swarms) but realistically some fits are not really viable due to the amount of sacrifice I need to make. sure if I had this suit or that suit it would be no problem but I don't
now when we talk about counters to a proto squad ......I can't magically make 5 people with good SP's join me when I am already deployed. but I can still carry a team to victory by avoiding them, but that does leave some other person to be the fodder.
Personally I hate the game and not the player. people will use what is available to them in order to win. CCP needs to create the balance not the players. I personally regulate what I use to have a good game with the majority of the player so advanced and bellow suit/weapon wise although I have plenty of isk. players who run 100% proto are within the rules, and of course its a lot less challenging playing wise to be good, yet its a lot more challenging to run isk positive. unfortunately PC has broken the meaning of isk for some so going isk negative does not matter.
should CCP make basic and bellow - no squads high sec medium sec advanced and bellow 4 man squads low sec unlimited gear levels and full selected teams like PC
imo yes as you solve all the major problems and provide people with a good progression route to follow, if players are not great they can simply choose to remain at a level where they feel comfortable.

I have no sympathy for people who complain about squads in pubs. Dust is no different from EVE in that if you don't join a corp, and you insist on playing alone, you're probably gonna have a ****** experience. Some people like to play alone, that's fine, but don't ***** about getting your face stomped in by a group of organized players in a team-based game. |

I wish I could like this more than once.
This is why I like the idea of meta-level gear capped matches, where only a certain level of gear can be used. I'd rather lose 100 competitive, hard fought games over winning a hundred protostomps any. day. of. the. week. And if you wanted to bring in standard gear into to a proto-gear match, then you could do so -- then all the protostomping defenders on these forums that continually state, "gear doesn't matter, me and my squad win with militia all the time" can stop paying lip service to this idea every time it comes up and prove it (and btw, I totally recognize that there are mercs here than can consistently do it, but I think there are are a hell of a lot fewer of you than the forums would suggest).
Can I be honest? A lot of you will think I'm daft when I say this, but hear me out: since Dust is never going to be anything more than a decent lobby shooter now, I think it's time we entertain the idea that we simply remove the concept of 'ISK' from it, and make it so that if you are skilled into it, you can use it, without restrictions, like MAG used to work. I'm space rich, but what is that actually worth, if I can't find balanced, competitive games easily? If we get rid of ISK, we remove a lot of the reasons why protostomping exists, which is good for Dust in the long run.
Let Legion have ISK and Planetary Conquest -- personally, I don't give a rat's ass about any of that. Understand, I'm not criticizing those of you Eve players that do care and enjoy that aspect of Dust, but you all have Legion to look forward to now. Let Dust be the best lobby shooter it can be, and forget about all the other stuff. I didn't start playing this game because I was into Eve, the lore, or the meta game, and all that. I started playing cause I was looking for a new game where I could shoot people in the face for a few hours. The fact that I could do it in space with scifi weapons, and that it was tied into the Eve universe (which I still think is cool) was just icing, interesting bonuses to the game, but that's not why I keep playing. I continue because playing that one competitive match that you get all too rarely makes all the boring protostomp ones (whether you won or lost) worth it.

I agree 100% with this part of your post! good games are what its all about but unfortunately they do not happen anywhere near enough due to gear imbalance. think of all those new players dust has lost due to it, its a sobering thought considering the current state of the game.
as for the proto try hards yes some are good, but IMO most are simply just above average players. If your actually good and run proto in pubs you do have to ask what would keep you playing? if there is no challenge then why do it? ok you make isk but isk as you say has no relevance unless you don't have it. |

How much of it is gear VS the most common things that make you good in any other shooter I.E:
Reflexes ability to aim properly knowledge of maps/hotspots knowledge of game mechanics and physics understanding the limits of what your character can realistically do in game etc.
Same as going back to Academy and being able to go on a 20 streak using melee only in the middle of the street because some people...
JUST.CANT.SHOOT
There are aspects of this game that are decidedly team based, and everything is easier with a squad but some of it is just how sorry people are at shooting, trying to base it on math and % rather than just knowing how to move and shoot. We have ALL been on the other side of a proto stomp to be sure, and sometimes it really is just you getting mauled by players of similar or higher skill in an all around better suit.
Boil it down to what you expect in pub matches, do you expect to win? To top the boards? To do BOTH? We all know running solo is possible, and doing well solo is possible, and not even in proto gear. Realistically though, how do you expect 1 guy with no communication to beat 6 guys, or 2 squads not even working together but working as 2 independent squads? This just isn't that game.
So many times I run with people who are so quick to blame the game, the gear, or some other external factor other than just owning up to a good old fashioned beat down.
Observe the public trust. Protect the innocent. Uphold the law.
