These are just thoughts of the release time of legion, but i believe it will coincide with the SteamBox. -Uncle Gabe needs a new F2P shooter -The graphic specs of the SteamBox just happen to be the same exact preferences for EVE -Steam already has its own servers, we all know how well Dust servers were -VAC, any questions there?
With the strain that the failed project of Dust had on CCP, I can't imagine them being able to release anything separately. Valkyrie is supposed to coincide with the Oculus DevKit2.
It's a stretch but I dont think it is that far out there
I'll see you guys on Legion when the Steambox is released

These are all good points. But if Legion uses the steam servers, CCP won't be able to co(i)n the phrase "within one universe" as they love to do.

In many cases, nothing was truly "wrong" with DUST's servers. They still have to run CCP's software either way. And a lot of the time, lag was caused by the international nature of the game, more than there being anything wrong with the servers. Most games won't let you play internationally, whereas DUST is worldwide, meaning in some game modes, you'll be playing over undersea cables and such.

To solve this they can follow the examples of Path of Exile, Warframe and even EVE Online. All can be downloaded and updated via Steam but have their own servers.

They are getting ready to lay a new, much much faster cable under the Atlantic. \o/ * I did not catch who exactly "they" are as I just heard it mentioned on the radio news.

There's a heck of a lot of undersea cables, and they're always laying more. But it's always going to be at least a little bit slower trying to play games over intercontinental borders than within regions like other games.

I think there is a way to bring the steam server for the fps and eve server for the rts together. Legion will not be joined with eve at launch so i suspect that not only hast o do with gettong the economy situated but connectivity as well.
Sorry about spelling, i am typing this from my phone
I'll see you guys on Legion when the Steambox is released
