This!
Been saying for a long time, taking them away killed a lot of fun in this game.
You can see how much fun we used to have CCP just by checking pyrex's old vid's. We'd try to land lav's on top of dropships from ramps, we'd have race's, we'd have 'friendly' battles where we didn't care about costs, where you could enjoy fighting your friends.
This is badly needed to be returned.

I still maintain they need a client update, ratatti has hinted that they may do one. So it's not totally ruled out.
Personally i can't see the game improving without one.. You can tweak and tweak but there's still some screwed up mechanics which need fixing.. aside from bringing back things like this. |

This way you still need to own a district.. which sucks for those corps who just want to get out of the monotomy of the public matches, and corps who don't hold territory.
The nice thing about the corp battles previously was that you could just set up friendly battles between corps for 'fun'. So take out the money side of it.. hell.. i'd be fine if you don't earn any isk for the battles as you consider them as 'not competative'. People just want to mess around, play with their mates and against their mates. |

Unfortunately that's entirely up to CCP upper management and the finance department. Patches are expensive and CCP doesn't want to foot the bill. I doubt the dev team has any say in the matter.
True enough, but it's still needed. If they intend to support Dust as they say they do.. then client patches should still be made and deployed. Otherwise it pretty much is a certified tombstone on it. Of course we all naturally assume that is the veiled subscript in their announcement of Legion anyway.. but if they say they will support it.. then at least leave it in more of a fun state to play. |

I certainly don't disagree with either of you, however.. CCP should be wanting Dust to remain attractive to still bring more people in or bring others back.
To this extent, another pass over development.. even if it takes a small team longer to do, it would be beneficial to CCP and their Dust Revenue to polish and refine it with features like this to attract more players. Frankly in it's current state.. there's a lot to be desired.
If indeed they adjusted the old corp battles to become the factional warfare battles.. then fair enough, a rewrite shouldn't be 'that' difficult nor time consuming.. if it means more resources in terms of servers, then fair enough.. that can take more effort. However the actual rewrite based on what we have, it could be added in codewise without too much of a problem so long as bandwidth and server resources can cope.
Yes finance is a restriction, yes what the exec's want is a limitation, yes it requires more man hours, yes the limited dev team size means fewer adjustments and wider milestones. Though it doesn't mean it's out of scope. If CCP were to realise they could change some systems, copy and paste others and then adjust and refine them, then they could really make the game a lot more fun to play and provide more means to cater for the hardcore and casual alike. It didn't live up to their promises, so the best thing they could do is leave it in a good enough attractive state for players of all ilk's to pick up and play and enjoy.
If they really decide not to invest the effort.. well then it's their loss and it's sad to see, but if they realise enough people do want these kind of changes then they have the ability to do a 180 and decide to go ahead with it.
Remember, CCP manage themselves, they are not bound by an external publisher who turns them down flat on their proposals.. Yes the same kind of decisions are discussed/argued upon internally.. but that just means it's a simpler procedure to change focus... as they've done on so many occasions previously to our woes.. on both eve and dust.
So while yes, it can be good to be realistic about the situation.. it's also good to realise what there 'may' be potential for too.. unless you just want to give up hope and drag your feet. There are still people out there who hope for better changes so that we can enjoy the game we want to enjoy even more.
We can only wait and see and voice our opinions and hope something which is said can trigger something internally which will spark a change. |

lol, sorry soraya, but i've seen your posts in the past, i've seen your campaign, i've seen what your like.. if you tell me i can cash something at the bank.. i'm only going to smile and politely ignore you. You may have been elected, but i still think your the one of the weakest possible people to be in a position like that.
So granted, you'd love to shut people up about things like this, but sweet cheeks.. it ain't gonna happen. What's said has been said. The others in this post have made their points, i've made my points, you've made your points.. what's really left to say, you really need to stop trying to put everyone down thinking that what you say is somehow gospel.. Mate, your CPM, not a CCP employee.. it's down to them, and they can and do change their mind on things, quite dramaticly sometimes too. |
