The Eristic wrote:Reiterating my thoughts in the slot thread, the HP is preferable. It buffs all assault suits at all tiers, unlike the extra slot, which only buffs higher tiers.
The extra slot also means fewer considered choices have to be made when building a suit. Logis and Scouts have both been problematic because they didn't have to make any concessions, give anything up for anything else, due to slot count/distribution or inherent suit traits/bonuses or some combination thereof. 8 slots + 150 HP will end the same way. Every proto suit will be able to stack damage and/or regen and still have high tank, not needing to carefully balance builds around their playstyle and goals for a fitting within the confines of a given suit's limitations. 7 slots + 150 HP means players will get a nice buff, but still have to think about how they want to build their loadouts. (8 slots without the HP means most people are just going to put HP in said 8th slot, btw.)
Finally, simply due to the sheer number of slots, the ways in which the 8 would have to be distributed across races for the sake of balance would serve to blur the very racial identities the proposed 7 slot layouts were designed to showcase, as well as disrupting their symmetry.
Firstly, that word "concession", I do not think it means what you think it means.
Secondly, your first point, however accurate, doesn't change the fact that the logi & scout suit users are both able to fit whatever they want without the need to sacrifice anything essential, whilst the assault suit users aren't. You're essentially saying: Look at these 2 suits, everyone that uses them can choose to fit everything they want on it & we don't want that, it's not balanced. Therefore the users of this other suit should be unable to fit everything they want on it b/c then we'd have 3 suits that aren't balanced.
As the users of logi / scout / heavy suits don't "have to think about how they want to build their loadouts." resulting in them just shield / armour tanking w/ damage mods / regen mods. I don't see why assault suit users aren't entitled to do the same. If anyone should be able to tank HP + regen efficiently it should be the heavies & assaults, not the logis & scouts.
Thirdly, your second point is also flawed. The Cal & Min layouts differ whilst the Gal & Amarr layouts are the same. This will still be the case w/ hotfix Charlie only the MinAssault layout will be the same as the Minlogi & the MinScout (In principle) as opposed to the 5-2 layout it has now (Which no one wanted). So a slot increase would actually do the complete opposite of what you said; lol @ how having an even no. of slots would "serve to blur the very racial identities the proposed 7 slot layouts were designed to showcase, as well as disrupting their symmetry." 8 slots is without a doubt better for that purpose.
A minor buff won't cut it, if the assaults aren't given a buff in multiple areas (mainly ones that result in increased survivability) scouts will continue to dominate the assaults in combat, like the logis did for a year.

I already find that my gallente assault gk.o performs quite well.especially after i maxed out plasma rifle sharpshooter to 5. I mean fckn 50% reduction to kick and dispersion from hipfire is just ludricous and couple that with a breach ar and it practically wont miss. not sure if skills apply while ADS in which case it would be 25% reductions.
all on topic though I will glady welcome additional slots/fiting as well as more base HP :) what to do with my 5th low?
additional complex rep, or enhanced plate, kincat maybe? there are so many more choices now.

Agree. So much people speak about "differences between commando and assault" but not enought about "assault, logi and scouts" That's cool to see a Caldari assault, I thought I was the only one The eHP buff and the exra slot are good things to improve assault situation and "stop" logi slayers and scout-tank
Ho yeah Love you Rattati!

But I think this may be one step over the line, though I still really wanna see it tbh. I often times run a heavy for a squad assault over my assault(I seem to do better with my STD sentinel then my Proto assault) and heck, maybe this will give them the extra push they need...or maybe make them super OP...
Also, I know Logis are already losing that crap over this...
I really would like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.
Like it?
Hate it?
Throw it at the wall and worry about cleaning it up after? No matter what nothing will be more op than the hmg, it isn't getting a nerf, it's getting a rediction to how long it can fire.

I can only speak in regards to the current Min Assault. Right now I'd sat its in an ok place, but then again my main role is a Min scout so perhaps I'm used to working with very little resources ;) Ultimately though the Mk.0 just doesn't feel like a minmatar suit. One is apparently forced to tank its shields and then fail utterly to make it worthwhile as it doesn't have the regen / short delay of the Cal. Making the premise of a 'hit and run' suit completely pointless. More like hit and then run, then keep running and come back when the match is almost over.
My usual coms chatter is something like " I remember when I had shields.. Good times.. Good times"
From what I can see the changes give a more defined flavour to each of the suits, making them a lot more enjoyable to use. Add to that the means to make them slightly more independent - they are after all the front line class and with the shifts in battle are likely pushing forward ahead of the support units so that seems justifiable.
On the whole more fun and more verity on the field can never be a bad thing. Really looking forward to it.

Well they can....... but they just don't have ship bonuses that really benefit rep tanking.
But I do have a Vengeance that Double Rep Tanks with dual Dead Space Reppers...... I also know that both Armour Marauders have Bastion Modules that give bonuses to Reps.
Suffice to say Amarr are more about resistance tanking that HP stacking or Repping. Some of their ships receive bonuses to armour resists but most combat vessels get laser bonuses.

Well if I were amarr I'd only use 1 rep, if I coukd stand waiting 4 months just to get 1 thing...gallente I would use 2 reps, and does gallente have more cap regen?
And btw, is there mods for passive cap regen, and stuff like that? I know there is active limited cap things though...

That's Called the Amarr Logi. It's the assault suit with more equipment slots, which Rattatai was going to remove the sidearm but he crossed it out in his charlie update list. The suit gets to keep this because Amarr has a notoriously bad RP section that bitches to no end when Amarr is touched. Like how everyone got shafted in the assault racial bonuses except for Amarr who got to keep their awesome heat related bonus. Meanwhile my caldari gets faster reloading, which maybe shaves off a couple miliseconds while they squeeze out 3-5 more shots on their respective weapons.

Energizer will hamper its already lackluster health and energiser will take the space of armour / reps / speed that the suit needs to withstand or evade any significant retaliation
