So first off, I've been switching seats from my main gun, to my small gun. One thing that just drives me insane, the gun is either pointing all the way left or right. Though sometimes it's pointing straight ahead (like it shows when not in use) or where I left it last, but more often than not the former.
Is this intentional? I would be nice if it was a bit more consistent.
*This is a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood tanker, Tebu.*
But that's not the main point of this whole thing. These things are DEADLY, but far to often I get some jokers in there that can't hit the broad side of a barn. Much less the infantry shooting swarms / forge shots my way. So after a bit of practicing with it, let me put some advice out there.
SLOW DOWN.
Take your time and line shots up. Madly firing isn't helping your accuracy in the least. Yes I know the thing shoots rather quickly, but that doesn't mean you HAVE to fire the thing like a machine gun.
If you fire 3 rounds and miss, stop, reorient, and try again. Small controlled bursts are far superior. You only need 1 to 2 shots for most suits. MAKE EM COUNT!
TL;DR QUIT BEING SCRUBBY GUNNERS! That's a proto small rail on my tank!

Enjoy.
Interesting, and yes for a spell they will retain the last orientation, but reset back to being all the way left or right. Or maybe it is oriented the same direction but since then my tank has turned.
That or it went to point back north. Which is just odd to me. Why not just orient it relative to the position of the tank??

Mine do at least!
And they tend to be deadlier than that big one strapped to the top!

Do you know how deadly a standard dropship would be? Assault dropships have a 3rd gun, but standard ones are pretty tanky. LAV with a good gunner? Mobile murder-machine that can get out of a tight spot in an instant. Railguns on an HAV with good gunners, as you say, would be terrifying.
I've had a few good ones, and yes, yes they are.
Going 20-0 plus a gunner doing the same is rather insane. 40 kills for one tank (and people ***** about the nerfed blaster turret!)

Another thing I forgot to mention I wanted to try: dropship assault team. Your standard dropship with 2 good gunners, flying in low and dropping 4 shotgunners/HMG sentinels right on top of the enemy. Flying low just to avoid the landing delay from an inertia dampener.
I've actually tried that, with a squad from my corp. I fly around, pick them up and drop them off where needed. Worked VERY well, but was stopped by multiple AV / Tanks. But in the few matches where they were somewhat absent, we just steam rolled through objectives and enemies.
And if it got too hot, extract, and reposition the whole squad. It was great fun, and requires some fancy flyin!
