But seriously, when you logi, it should be as support. The changes will not stop me or any other support logi from backing up the rest of the team. This just stops the long held practice of Logis trying to be one man armies. That was if anything the Assaults job in the first place, remember you can carry a lot of equipment that assaults can't. You can be a medic, an ammo supplier, a mechanic (Not that it's really needed), and more importantly you can set up the point of engagement and coral your team onto superior ground.
I usually run a few types of Logis, I run a medic logi in std gear, A medic logi with uplinks or nanos in adv, and an adv forward command post logi (rep nanos, ammo nanos, and uplinks.) I use Caldari Logis but if say I was a Gallente Logi I could be running all of these and a pretty effective scanner or Minmitar can still run something other then medic although that is their strong suit. Your bonus should dictate preference not your only possible role that you are willing to fill.
Here is a thing that I do as a logi:
1. I shoot at the enemy when I can.
2. I apply my equipment when applicable.
Here is what I don't do as a logi:
1. Hide in the colon of a heavy with a rep tool while ignoring the rest of my team.
2. Take no or low tier equipment and brick tank to be a Slayer Logi.
I don't do 1. because players that do are being lazy or bad (bad as they don't have gun game in a fps or are terrible multi taskers.) These guys complain about assault getting buffed simply because they are bad, and bad players always complain if they are not OP.
I don't do 2. because as CCP is finally making it evident, although it's been trending that way for a while, they never intended for Logis to be able to outperform assault suits in combat. The players complaining about this are the ones that for example saw that Caldari had more high and low slots, meaning they could dual tank, and the higher PG/CPU meant they could fit better tanking fits. The only draw back was the no side arm which is why slayer logis use rifles which have decent dps compared to their reload times and decent range being the most well rounded weapon classes. Ultimately they are losing the advantage they had skilled into knowing CCP is bad at balance. And now that CCP is doing nothing but balancing the game they are SOL.
You knew this day would come slayer logis. Now granted Rattatai has proven if you ***** enough you can keep nonsensical layouts like the Amarr Logi sidearm, but here's to hoping you guys don't win and he doesn't backslide on everything else.
