I miss forking out ISK and pimping my HAV for it to be destroyed 60 seconds later by a Tower Forger or a Swarmer I couldn't even see......but at least HAV felt good to drive......
The main problem with this model in DUST is that it pinned tankers vs infantry.
Tank battles where far and few inbetween. When tankers knew there was a better tanker on the field they just didnt bother even calling one in.. or would go back to the red line and recall. Tank on tank fights when 3-5 mil is about to be poped just rarely happened.
And created an entire gameplay dynamic in DUST 514 where it was Tanks vs infantry.
Tankers have never really had their role defined by CCP. Have never really been given purpose in DUST 514 as we have it today. They where designed for Skirmish 1.0.
Now in this game mode, Turret structures and bases are extremely hard to push, and take coordinated attacks to even penetrate passed those areas. As it is right now? Turret structures are a joke and a tank can roam nearly anywhere with impunity.
There really has been no forward thought by CCP asking the question "What are tankers actually for in DUST 514, What will be their core gameplay" Tanks as it is right now are just roaming slayers.
-Turret structures need to be made relevant in DUST 514. We need turret structures with like 10x more health. A.I. against vehicles extremely high. And war point gain increased for their destruction, War points handed out(1-5 WP each tick) For repairing Turret structures. And a remap on where Turret structures are even placed.
This way, bases and entrenched enemy positions and turrets create checkpoints that have to be dealt with before you can progress your teams positions.
A Tanker should always have something to shoot at and an entire gameplay and function on the battlefield defined. Right now Tankers are confused on what to even do on the battlefield but look for easy kills, it's created extremely stale and boring gameplay around tanking. |
