I'm not sure if anyone else has had this and wanted to share, has anyone ever seen a cloaked scout moving without the blue sheen? I've seen it happen and I was wondering if this is a contrast error, coding error, or what I'm more interested to know does the adv or proto cloak not give off the blue sheen? I ask because I've noticed more often that a basic scout will be blue when running about cloaked while I'll gun down a proto scout and he was clear while running. I'm not sure if it's coincidence and as I only have access to the basic cloak, I wanted to hear from the community if they are noticing the same thing or if I have a buggy client lol. |

(assuming I didn't totally accidentally kill him somehow)
I used to play halo and AVP which those games cloaking have the same effect as no blue sheen. Its also like Garry's mod The Hidden. You can still see players as there outline gives off a distortion and looks like a graphical error although it doesn't help in this game that sometimes it really is just a graphical error like texture popping lol. |

So it isn't intentional? That was something I really wanted to know was if proto cloaks actually did not display the blue sheen. |

I am well aware of that, this is why I stated in my original post that it happens when they are moving sometimes as well.
I think that's how this has gone on for so long without being addressed, because often when people talk about it they go "NO NO CLEARLY THEY WEREN'T MOVING THEN!" This ignores the fact that I do in fact know the difference between a scout running parallel to me or a scout standing absolutely still. I have seen both appearing without a blue sheen, and though I know the stationary cloak is working as intended this doesn't obfuscate the fact that the anomaly occurs when they are moving at times as well.
I've got a 40" LED that I sit about 3 feet from so as long as I am looking in one direction I will see any moving cloaks regardless of the sheen. I don't sit on the couch 8 feet away, like I do in other games, when playing dust for the very reason of spotting cloaks and spotting little heads peeping out when sniping lol. |

For those who haven't seen it I will link Judge's video on the issue of graphical errors with cloaks.
He shows that lighting can be a factor but at the tail end of the video he shows essentially what I am talking about, where sometimes a cloaked character will be moving without any blue sheen as if they were stationary, which can be near impossible to spot given the amount of weird graphical errors that can occur in this game. I know i for one hate playing on the Volcanic maps as the little red ash effects can sometimes appear to look like a real close red chevron indicator.
Here's his video that explains everything extremely well that is an issue with cloak visibility:

Although I don't have video proof, I was trying to pay more attention to the lighting and I can confirm that in low light areas the glitch can still occur (No blue sheen while they are full on sprinting in the dark) The lighting though it will make it harder to see the blue sheen does not seem to be related to the fact that the blue sheen doesn't show sometimes. I think it's a graphical error that sometimes occurs, hopefully Rattatai will check up on the cloak and make sure the coding is eh solid? So many glitches in this game though I doubt it will be high on the to do list. What with all the random vehicle death traps and invisible wall slopes etc. |

Bright Map - Tougher to spot cloak. Dark Map - Tough not to spot cloak.
See my post two above you, though I don't have video proof I at least know by my own testimony, for what that's worth, that even on a dark map with minimal lighting the blue sheen won't be present sometimes. Yes I noticed when it was present that it was far more evident and could make out the suit using the cloak even in the dark, however I also saw sometimes from the very same player that was clearly blue before, another time upon activation only give off the slight distortion before materializing a few feet to the left or right.
Essentially it looks a lot like how players will look when they are cloaked first spawning in and immediately running. As there is no blue sheen on spawn cloaking and it takes a few moments for the cloak to wear off once they move. And as players who have ever camped a CRU would know, that's pretty hard to see until they become visible. Now just imagine this happening to someone running around with a shotgun cloaked etc. This I think is where the problem with visibility is originating, in part to a glitch. |
