This is a thread of questions and a hodgepodge of ideas.
How are items shipped and handled?
Here I am one second in my Merc Quarters, somewhere in Gallente Space, chillin with Sgt. Kirk and then I am whooshed away to Devoid to fight a battle over there. The travel is instantaneous so I assume logistics of dust items is not all that important right? I mean if I can travel across space in an instant and not break EVE then item locations are a bit extraneous really, seeing as how all my LAVs and Dropships travel these large distances instantly as well.
How is it that transporting all that mass huge distances without proper logistics does not break dust. It's because it doesn't matter in the end right? Because the travel of Dust objects and existence of Dust objects has no influence in the EVE universe?
Someone told me however that any item in your assets has a location tag associated with it, thus they are stored somewhere when I'm chilling in my merc quarters, I assume my merc quarters.
So if items have location but distance and travel is arbitrary, how could item transfer not be feasible?
Picture this: What if we had the ability to customize a crate, select any & all items from our assets and assign them to this crate, basically create a fitting for a crate. And we could have these crates delivered via RDV and have people hack them and when they hack them location tags are changed to whomever the hacker is, thus transfer of property. Seeing as how my assets are one moment in my Merc Quarters the next they are floating above the battlefield in a warbarge that doesn't seem to exist, using a battlefield to transfer items seems to work within bounds of reason, seeing as how battlefields destroy and produce gear. For instance Wolfman pistols magically appear from the battlefield. Yet it is by design thus within reason of existing for some reason I do not know of.
Think of it like recalling a vehicle, but the vehicle is a crate, and anyone who hacks has it brought into their inventory.
This would prevent Merc quarter to merc quarter item transfer which I could be a problem, for some reason, but since the two mercs are at the same location, on battle, item transfer could be feasible? I could see a little extra stress on server or loading time becoming a factor but really....it would be worth it.
You could be really lazy and make the crates look like all those crates that are already just laying around all over the map.
Also when I hack a madrugar it should be assigned to my inventory
