It's come to my attention that the Devs don't even know the purpose of the Assault suit anymore, which brings up the topic of having suits that are restricted to only running that weapon. Such as a Heavy only being able to run Heavy guns, and a light suit only being able to run light guns. This would fix problems concerning a Heavy with RR, CR or even the Thales.

Its still not an issue.
When a suit is not used for its intended purpose it becomes UNDERPOWERED.
A TANKED Scout is not going to win against a Strong Ewar Scout with Shotgun.
A Heavy with L weapon wont win against a Heavy with an HMG (in its optimal Range)
And so on.
CCP lets you do this to increase diversity, doesn't mean its broken...on the contrary, people hinder themselves while doing this...
And BTW, as it is, i think the HMG is easier to use than any light weapon (except the ACR)... XD

Field test for yourself the effectiveness of a heavy with a proto-RR or proto-CR or whatever the hell you want, and compare it with a heavy with a proto-Assault-HMG if you want to do open-field work, the results may surprise you.
We don't need heavy frame weapon restrictions, nor light frame weapon restrictions.

How does that help assaults? Especially considering they're medium suits and we have no medium weapons.
Can't say I'm all that surprised.
I've been drinking and may be drunk.... probably like most dust players.

Im not a full time heavy and i can go 35+ and 5- deaths with a Minmatar Heavy frame M/1 Series and a basic Heavy machine-gun.
The reason i use a Sentinel IS for the HMG.
If im going to use a Light weapon i'd rather use my E-war Scout or a tanked Assault.

Jesus christ, how come people all of sudden jumped on the idiot wagon and don't know the purpose of assaults when the title "assault" is a clue as to its purpose. In fact, its not a clue. It's a direct hook, line and sinker as to their purpose.
Just like Summ Dude's thread, asking devs what is the role of assaults. Rattati says killing folks and SD rejects the answer. How can you reject the answer when you questioned in the first place? Didn't get what you wanted to hear? What is it that you want to hear? Do you even know.
And like XZ said, field test a sentinel with a RR and see how stupid you feel playing the role. Anybody who does that places themselves at a considerable disadvantage. Of course on paper and in forums, it sounds devestating. A sentinel with 1000 plus HP has a high powered rifle is enough to gain views in theory but in the field, just see how fast and stupid you die.
Stop trying to restrict people. This is like playing a basketball game and you want to change how a man dribbles because he broke your ankles. Adapt.
The role assaults are to slaughter and kill. Simple. Heavies with RRs are dumb. They get killed easily but a smart player. Simple.

They are attempting to fix this by tweaking the PG/CPU and giving a bonus to heavy weapon fitting. It will take time but I like the idea.
