I've heard some great things about Destiny, and since I have some throwing around money I was looking into purchasing it. But before I do, I have some questions that I wanted to ask.
1. Are there Medics/Support Classes? 2. Are there Vehicles to blow up? 3. Do you fight more than AI Units? 4. Is it truly open world? 5. Are the players there scrubs? 6. How's the PvP? 7. Is it P2W? 8. Anything else I should know? 9. Any groups from DUST planning on forming there?
Thanks in advance, and I would appreciate it if the CCP apologists would refrain from attempting to de-rail this thread,

I think there's a few.
My verdict: Alright game, fell hugely short of the hype if you ask me. Not worth more than Gé¼20

Hope it helped. Anecdote time: I booted it up with high expectations, made my character, watched the intro, "This is neat" Played some more, and the story just started feeling so generic sci fi. Alien Horde attacks and nearly destroys humanity because of a technology they found. But wait, you, yes, you have been chosen (from a car boot) to save ze world.
So you do stuff, conveniently find a working ship to get back to the Last City. You get stuff and set out again to Old Russia. (back where you just were) You're on a map (that's the same for 5 missions) with about 8-ish people you can run into. This might not be so bad if the map wasn't so cramped. The bike you get is unnecessary. Which is good, because it handles like a drunk depressed whale with an eating disorder. Bosses are pretty uninspired. Shoot it till it dies.
Maybe I wouldn't be so negative if not for the hype, I don't know. But when I hear they spent 500 million on it, and this is the best they've got?
Maybe it's just me, maybe it's not my "style." But it should be. I should like it, it's got stuff I should like.
Maybe you'll have a better time with it.

I've heard some great things about Destiny, and since I have some throwing around money I was looking into purchasing it. But before I do, I have some questions that I wanted to ask.
1. Are there Medics/Support Classes? no
2. Are there Vehicles to blow up? yes but they are a bit OP
3. Do you fight more than AI Units? pvp and pve are seperate
4. Is it truly open world? no if you mean skyrim open world, but yes if you mean a large-ish map that you can explore and soon to be explorable planets when the game is finished.
5. Are the players there scrubs? not that i have expieranced. they are a bit noob-like like but the pvp is where you will find most scubs.
6. How's the PvP? IMO its very 'meh'. it could be better and if you unfortunately meet the wrong people they could camp and use "very good" guns to kill you easily
7. Is it P2W? no
8. Anything else I should know?you can form fireteams. you need to be lvl 5 to enter the pvp. enemies seem easy at fiorst but as you lvl and progress the pve gets harder. the movement in pvp and pve is different. pve you move slower but pvp you move faster and sprinting is the same speed i think
9. Any groups from DUST planning on forming there?im pretty sure a few people are but not sure how many

I think of it as "Borderlands & Halo" love child. You have to keep in mind that its a Beta and not the actual game. I think its ok and the finished product should be good. I am playing the beta on ps3 and am getting the white ps4 that comes with destiny so it should be interesting to compare the two games formats |

1.) I suppose all classes support one another...but no 2.) Yes 3.) Yes 4.) Sort of Yes. Zones are open world and there are slated to be many zones. 5.) Don't expect much of them. They don't cover friendlies, they are barely aware of anything, and abandon hard won points to run around like idiots. I have so much hate mail from people calling me a camper when in reality I am roving around within seconds of my chosen objective. 6.) Meh, simple and nothing special..... but neither is dust right...? 7.) No 8.) I suppose 9.) Yup

1. Not really but I vaguely remember that the warlock will have a secondary skill set (at lvl 15) that will allow them to heal others but since we have been capped at lvl 8 no one knows if this is the case.
2. Yes. Certainly in PvP but they are glass cannon builds where they can easily be used to dominate as they kill very fast but are very fragile to heavy weapons and special abilities. In PVE the enemies do have offensive vehicles i.e. with weapons that can be destroyed and so far I have managed to kill some enemy riding a speeder bike with guns and I could then ride it around the map, through building into other sectors and shoot stuff. Our personal sparrow (speeder bike) has fairly decent controls when you get used to them and I have found them fun.
3. Only in PvP not in PVE
4. Not quite but again beta but I note that there are short cuts which are currently guarded by invincible enemies. Still the maps are of a pretty decent size for a beta.
5. I reckon the player base will be substantially bigger so you are going to have more of everything.
6. It is far faster then dust but generally slower than COD. Really it is personal preference. At the moment we can only play Control (3 point skirmish) and the maps are much smaller than Dust.
7. No.
8. It is definitely not an alternative Dust with PVE. It is a very different game and after playing Dust for 1.5 years it is a very enjoyable change of pace.
9. The Barbershop is set up there.

1. no there is no reviving ppl etc not in pvp. pve warlock is ur more support buffer heavy dps class 2. yes 3. yes in pvp 4. kinda 5. nope much better gunskill than what u'll find on DUST 6. Beautiful minus the tank on Moon map. Skilled based not gear based and not zergy or resorting to spam tactics 7. nope 8. Play it for urself with an open mind just know the PvP is more competitive arena based 9. A good number are forming few will be able to hang and thus wont last or stick to PvE

Really?
I'm considered a fair to moderate/ less than moderate player I would think in Dust, certainly not PC worthy...... but I've never come in lest that 1st or 2nd on my team............
Beating the kind of players Destiny attracts requires maybe two brain cells..... and defending a point gets you accused of camping...... fine I'll camp if I can lock down 1 of 3 objectives solo.

1. yes, each class can split off into a support style class the helps out its firetime, thinking ahead and seeing how tough strike missons can be they will be a must
2. yes their are :D you can even steal pikes off guys in the forgotten shore
3. their is a PvP mode, think halo. also well made maps from what i can tell takes a bit of getting used to.
4. you can deploy to "maps" which are freaking huge and just runaround and do side missions with ya bros, every now and then a public quest will spawn which is everyone in the area pitch in style quest.
5. No hell in fact PvP has a good healthy number of people will be a shock to the system. once you get the hang of it wont be a problem but bring friends bad teams will lose hard much like dust.
6. im not a PvP fan but nothing like dust its more like Halo at the speed of call of duty, team work is a must because its impossible to cover all possible roots and doors so locking a point down just cant happen.
7. by the game get EVERYTHING! no sub no microtransations.
8. treat this as a world of warcarft version of shooters. however first and foremost this is a PVE!!!! game not a PvP game if you want a PvP experience i would find something else the strike missions and story and raid have got the focus the PvP is just a bunch of maps with currancy to unlock cool stuff
9. yes ******* loads of us their is a even a tread on the bugie forums where we are all gathering
their are a lot of people understanding the game to try and sound cool or clam dust is better. put simply this is utter rubbish sadly for these people destiny will be a big big hit. i get some PvP purists wont like but as a game its been flawless executed.
i could only spend 1 hour max in dust in the end. in one map and 5 missions plus 1 strike mission iv allready clocked in 4-8 hours with the small window i got this weekend. the game is good ignore the hates

I spent maybe 12 hours in Destiny over the weekend, with absolutely flawless performance from the game. When the servers went down i came back to DUST and encountered more bugs, glitches, lag and lame performance in one match than i had encountered in Destiny in 12 hard-played hours.
I barely made it through that one match, logged out in disgust. Thank the Matari gods for passive skill training.

Its funny, I've seen on this forum one person complain its too much like borderlands and another complain its not enough like borderlands.
I've seen every class weapon etc complained about as OP.
I've seen players say its overhyped crap and that they cancelled their pre-order but then a few days later talking about enjoying doing tricks in their sparrow.
TL:DR Don't believe the hype, but don't believe the knee-jerk negativity.
