This is not the case as it was with Halo; a game that smashed it own hype into pieces.
I would also like to say it is rather unfair to compare a lamborghini to the john deer tractor.
Agreed, however, that is a symptom of today's gaming age. With Social Media, hype is generated quicker than it was in the first Halo's day.
Almost no game is capable of beating its own hype anymore. I will still be getting Destiny though. If it sux, I can always trade the damn thing in.

Iv seen a load of rubbish views here have make me think half of them have not even played it. Defenders of dust are people who bought a crap car that just about works and bitches about his brothers 4v4 landrover because its leather seats are cold.
Ita a valid complant till you realise if he sat down for more than second he could see a beast of a landrover vs his rusting kia that just lost its rare tire and the garage wont take it back...
1) This didn't make any sense to me. And I listen to, and explain weird analogies and metaphors daily. 2) Why are people who have 'given up' on Dust still posting and playing? Your comments lose all credibility by you simply being here on the Dust forums...
wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some of us like to chit chat with our old buddies since we are all on different games now. the dust forum provides us with a place to do that in one place. we also like to talk about anime.

Thats what PSN and the option to open a chat is for, if you don't have your 'buddy's' PSN account name saved, there is a bit of a problem...
Im rarely on the PSN anymore chief. I am too busy with RL. It takes less time to open this page and respond to a thread here.

They had money to throw around on bells & whistles. All in all, the two are chalk and cheese. Destiny isn't trying to do anything Dust tried to do. That said: Dust failed at everything it tried to do. So everybody come play Destiny I agree that dust was trying to do something totally different than destiny in may ways... but there are many similar elemnts such as being an mmofps, deep character customization What character customization, bro? I played the Destiny BETA as well, there was no 'customization'. I can pick what emblem goes next to my name but does not appear on my character's avatar? So cool! I can unlock stuff as it gets unlocked, in the order it gets unlocked without choosing whether I want to unlock that upgrade or not? So cool! Sure, I could pick between which grenade type I wanted to use but other than that, there was no choice at all in what upgrades I purchased. It was "you've grinded enough, go in here and click on this to stop the stupid Upgrade!!!! notification from flashing. Destiny's PvP maps are bloody tiny, there's no room at all for tactical play, 6v6 is very small teams which also hurts the non-existent capacity for tactical play... it's a nice story, pretty graphics, casual-friendly PvE - and THAT'S what's going to make Destiny a success. CCP is already talking about having casual-friendly PvE in Legion... they don't do casual-friendly PvE well in EVE, their flagship. I think it's a mistake to try to do it in Legion or Valkyrie. But, alas, casual PvE is where the money's at so it's not surprising they're going to try it. As long as the PvP elements (hunting PvE'ers in low/nullsec space and looting their corpses, just like in EvE) are in place they'll do fine. you could only level to 8... it isn't till level 15 you can really customize, but even at 8 you still had options just not many. at first I didn't like destiny pvp but it grew on me, it is very competitive and cutthroat.
^ this, this is why the average carebear dust player will not like it. the average duster likes to hide behind his 1000hp armor and shield facing off with some noob who only has 215 hp. it makes them feel better about themselves.
