Destiny may not be the pvp replacment for Dust, but it will function, and the folks making Destiny 1) Aren't criminal scum bags, and 2) Have made first person shooters before, so it won't be utter garbage.
Destiny might not be Dust, but Dust is nowhere near MAG, so getting high and mighty about Dust is hilarious.
If you wanna tout the whole pvp skill thing here in Dust, you must forever be using militia with no SP invested in anything at all. Otherwise you are just riding your crutch, and "skill" does not belong in any of your statments. |

And of course thats why you play chess instead of decent video games. Confused as to why you are here.
True, it has been a common them among these forums that as new games come out, they signal the death of Dust. While this may not be completely true, each new wave of new games that comes out sees a mass exodus of Dust veterans, as well as a drop in quality of Dust in general. Don't believe me? Dust was in a way better place when GTA was suppose to kill it. GTA didn't kill it of course, but Dust in general was better at that time than it is now, for all the well known reasons.
Destiny is not the same game at all as Dust, and I never expected it to replace Dust.
But if I want a strategy game, and the only option is chess, i'll play something else until a better strategy game shows up.
And I certainly wouldnt reference "skill" what so ever in combination with Dust. Specially when the game has been hemorrhaging vets since day 1. |

Unfortunately, even without the advice of crappy EVE people, CCP still has no idea how to properly design and balance an fps in any way shape or form. Hence Legion not being green lit. If CCP had even the slightest idea how to make a decent fps, the game would at least be marginally successful. Enough to justify actually begining work on Legion. Even with the scraps of the player base left over from FF14.
The fact that balance was never even remotely approached, and the fact that to this day the role of certain classes on the battlefield is still not figured out, along with the poor quality of the most basic parts of an fps (moving without getting caught on the ground) speaks to CCPs skill at creating an fps.
Of course, thats because of the U3 engine. And if that was even remotely true, you would think someone would have picked up on that, what, 3-4 years ago, when they started work on the game?
Either way, the quality of Destiny will be head and shoulders above Dust. Now whether Destiny is the type of game any given individual will want to play is a different story. I want a competitive fps, and Destiny will not be that. But i'm unwilling to play a game with a lower overall quality than the original Quake to get my competitive fps. For everyone else, thats their choice.
And being someone who played Dust religiously for nearly a year, to the point it could have been considered a job, once you reallybreak away from this trash (im not talking about a 1 night break) you realize how sad and crappy Dust is, and playing a game that a company actually spends money developing, as opposed to randomly throwing money at projects said company doesnt have the intent or ability to ever finish, is quite the breath of fresh air. |
