I want one, and I believe you can do it without a client update as it will just be a laser rifle with modified stats. I would imagine it to have a large clip size, faster damage ramp, a bit less range, and a quicker overheat. Some stats could be something like:
-120 round clip
-overheats after 40 rounds
~80 meter optimal range
What do you think?

I am actually trying to be serious. Assault SO FAR means full auto with the rifles. However, assault doesn't always mean full auto. IMO, to assault in Dust is to maintain a constant offensive threat, and with the stats on the Assault laser rifle that I made up would make it a constant threat with a faster damage ramp and an increased clip size. Just because it is already full auto doesn't mean it can't have an assault variant.

What do you think? Assault Lasers are called Scrambler Rifles aka Pulse Lasers. Laser Rifles are Beam lasers.
Meh. The point of the thread was that I want more variants of existing weapons. Like the PLC, Lazor, etc.
