I grow to like you more every time I see you post legion is going to be a pile of crap because they're going to make the same stupid mistakes they made with DUST. The controls are going to be crap, probably because it's the same person working on them. The maps are going to be these ineptly designed places with large swaths of open ground followed by condensed areas with structures. Leaving long and short range weapons the only ones that matter (medium range for purists and role players, and close range for specialists). There won't be enough players because CCP is too close-minded in their terrible Icelandic marketing philosophies that just don't work. And it is going to be full of more bugs than a termite nest because they lack both quality and quantity in their programmers. Well the new CPM were recently filled in on Legion progress, and although they are not allowed to tell us anything, they do assure us that Legion development is still going full steam ahead.
I assume that CCP has gone Black so that when they make the Greenlight announcement they can show lots of impressive progress, rather than just throwing out empty promises as they did during DUST development. They know the DUST community has become jaded. They know that we will no longer be impressed with promises and dreams. They know that they need to show solid progress if they want the Greenlight announcement to generate the hype they hope to get out of it!

Well going by the recent financial statement CCP is still putting money into it, so yeah it's still going.
Personally I think it has been greenlit. What hasn't been greenlit is permission to share it with the rest of the community which I suspect it is due to the over-promising and under-delivering with Dust.
I think CCP realizes that this is their last chance to show that they can deliver a compelling FPS experience. |

It would be nice to get some kind of information from the devs from time to time (or the CPM for that matter) I had hoped that with all this hotfix stuff going on and discussions about it CCP had learned their lesson about treating their playerbase like mushrooms.
We have been told DUST it pretty much dead its getting balancing tweaks and thats about it, except for the reintroduction of some BPO suits (something they said they wouldn't do I might add) as a cash grab to attempt to milk DUST 1 final time. Yet despite them all but saying DUST will die completely when Legion comes out they do very little talking about legion either.
Hopefully legion gets the go ahead and they announce it ASAP and use DUST as a beta (I know its a different system and developing for two could be a pain but until Legion is ready for alpha or beta stages DUST could be used to test concepts) this gives dust a purpose and may draw some players back but most importantly it would give the community hope that legion will be better than dust.

The CPM can't really say much, just that things are still progressing. We've encouraged CCP to keep the community more informed.

Simply not true. DUST is doing pretty well, and I'm confident CCP isn't ready to throw in the towel on DUST.

I would think, at the very least, lessons learned in continued iterations of DUST can be taken to heart for Legion development.

See "Keep progressing" as informative as hitting me with a rolled up news paper for asking questions, "DUST is doing pretty well" for DUST its about same old isn't it really? for most other FPS's its pretty low activity although to be fair it is probably the most successful F2P FPS on PS3 . Hopefully lessons learned in DUST consist of 1, talk to your playerbase, 2, Allow your CPM to talk to the community about things aswell (relaxed NDA's) 3, Under no circumstances hint at big things and then reveal that the big thing is a giant pile of excrement you are dropping on your playerbase from a great height (Fanfest 2014).
You know I respect you Soraya and I am certain you are doing your utmost to get CCP to be a bit more open mouthed about whats happening behind the scenes, but I like to have a good complain from time to time its my duty as an Englihman (along with drinking tea, plotting world domination, riding a penny farthing and the occasional dreaded being stuck behind someone in a long corridor and being utterly ashamed when you run out of different ways to say thank you after they have held door number 5 or 6 for you because you just know they are cursing you for being a despicable rogue.).

DUST's actually growing, technically.
As you said, don't hint at big things, and then... not deliver (that sounds nicer, doesn't it?) and that is what CCP is trying to avoid. By, you know, just not hinting at all. I find this as irritating as you do, because I think it's taking it a bit too far, but the point is, they learned that lesson. Maybe a bit too well. The current way CCP is doing things, is to say things once they can deliver.
From my personal view, it's good marketing to release tidbits periodically to maintain interest and demonstrate progress. I'd also definitely like CCP to commit to certain investments being preserved for players, even if they don't know the final form it will take.

3.0 from CPM perspective has not requested a meeting yet due to CCP Z's current ongoings. Soon as those are deal with we'll request one. (or he may beat us to that punch)
