The Gallente Commando in my experience is best as a armor repair tanker and not just tons of plates. Leave the Plate Stacking to the Amarr.
On my Set up I have two Complex Reps and a Complex Ferroscale Plate in the Lows.
1 Complex Damage mod in the highs, simply because there's nothing else.
Duvolle Assault Rifle and Plasma Cannon, with a scanner.

One my Set up I have two Complex Reps and a Complex Ferroscale Plate in the Lows. This. Swap a FS(if you like) with a basic plate or complex reactive. Also, the PLC(while not the best weapon) can get you out of a jam when a heavy turns the corner. Use ADV or PRO. CPU can get a bit right on the GalMando(especially if you use a PLC) My only gripe is that the suit is awful at STD and so-so at ADV. Proto is great, but you have to risk a lot of isk just to get a usable suit. Yeah. The Plasma Cannon is perhaps the only weapon I have to get the Optimization skill for.
On the plasma cannon it's actually worth something hahah.

Well, to be honest a Proto Combat Rifle on a Galmando is still better than a Duvolle on a Galmando :( The AR needs a slight range buff. 60 meters like the old days. While I could go for a range buff I always thought it needed to be the Champion of Close Range.
As long as the Assault Rifles underperform in close quarters compared to the Combat Rifles I will not be happy.
ARs have only work at one range, close, all other Rifles have two and even three ranges.
If a weapon has only one area of operations it damn well better be the best of the best in what it does, no questions.

On the plasma cannon it's actually worth something hahah. It drops it not quite a bit, I can actually fit K-17s if I move some stuff around. Worth it 100 percent IMO(though I wish they would drop the skill down from a 6x to a 4x) Yeah it's a bit costly. Even for what it's worth.
