EVE players will NEVER allow ANYONE outside of EVE to have a real impact on their universe. It doesn't matter what system DUST/LEGION is on, the EVE universe is not for anyone else, only the people in EVE. I would suggest tracking down some posts regarding DUST on the EVE forums. Go see what they think of anyone not in a space ship. Its not PCMasterRace, its SpaceShipMasterRace. This attitude is amplified by the fact that the Devs themselves feel this way.
Tranquility is not for you, its not for me, its not for anyone who is not already involved in EVE.
Of course, CCP has no problems proping up CCP Ratatooi as a puppet dictator. Keep telling him you appreciate his hard work. He is simply here to keep sucking you idiots dry. When the money stops flowing, DUST shuts down. And no amount of money coming into DUST will result in anything more than some silly hotfixes that could have been done years ago over the course of 10minutes. Everything after 1.8 is pure profit. Keep chasing that carrot. |

Not bitter, and if you want to feel like my comment was directed squarely at you, then thats your choice. As i'm sure you have seen. I would say Ratatooi is doing a great job. The servers are still up, so people are still paying money. Which is sad, since a quick look over these forums shows that people think CCP is "doing their best" to provide for the present and future of Dust/Legion. In reality, they are running what is far less than a skeleton crew (they were running a skeleton crew 8 months ago), and bysiply having a blue tag actually give "feedback" people take this as some amazing sign that a turn around is coming, and maybe numbered patches will return, and maybe Legion will come to PS4. To continue to make money, CCP has removed pretty much everyone from Dust development, fudge a hand full of numbers here and there, and from time to time make a post.
If you aren't paying, more power to you. Please continue to enjoy the game. Now, if you (a general you, not you specifically) are paying and wondering about asset and grind transfer and whether Legion will hit PS4 and all this other stuff, well then that is funny, and to hope the current situation isn't an obvious cash grab after the behavior CCP has displayed is naive. Legion is not green lit, will not be green lit, and more than likely CCP will ride EVE into the dirt at which point the company will fold.
If people want to spend money for what is available now, thats one thing (pretty sad as the game is still pretty rough), but if people are spending money based on lies and trickery about "the future of Dust", then I think the things I say need to be heard. Though I know nobody is listening.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him stop spending money on a failed game. My heart goes out to you all, even though i'm the bad guy.........for now.
If this all was 2 and a half years ago, id say Ratatooi was doing a decent job. Seeing as how Dust is 2 and a half years into pre beta, id say Ratatooi is a criminal just like the rest of CCP.
Of course, he COULD be one of the few survivors from CCPs Atlanta office, in which case he was probably an accountant thrown into his current job due to company cheapness. I which case I do feel for him. |

Snake Sellors wrote: no I don't think that you were aiming it at me, I just replied. as to people still paying, in a world where people will waste over -ú100 just on drink on a single night out, when they could throw parties for similar amounts.. or spend stupid amounts of cash on smoking, or magazines that they throw away, or any other multitude of ways they enjoy, I won't be condemning anybody for spending money on a dead end game, if they enjoy it. can't say that personally I'm even slightly interested in legion I'm not a pc gamer either way, but if people chose to believe it will be out on the p.c that's their choice, as for ps4 versions.. ccp already said that they wouldn't even look into til they perfected the p.c version given how much improvement has happened following small hotfixes, compared to the mess being made during the uprising period, if you do believe they will perfect the p.c game you have much more faith than I do (again not specifically you.) in other words I'm kinda in agreement with you about data transfer as for ccp rattati, people believe he's doing a good job, understandable the game has gotten better and is still improving. he has been replying to people on here which is more than can be said for rouge, et al (maybe it is a cash grab, but then all games are) doesn't really mean the overall impression of ccp has improved though. out of curiosity.. do you still play the game?
Ive played a few times since "the day", most recently about a week ago. Still got stuck on the terrain, still got shifted from side to side out of nowhere, still had grenades that i began cooking disappear, still had weapons not switch over, guns not reload. I gave up on balance a while ago, at best small sections of Dust can be balanced at once, never the entire package. But if I still can't climb stairs, or rely on my grenade to deploy or a gun to reload, I don't see any improvment. Don't get me wrong, I put up with it for a while, but when the glorious "big picture" got thrown in the trash, the negatives suddenly and totally out weighed the positives for me. |

Izlare Lenix wrote:Regardless of the issues Dust might have had these past two years it is still the most enjoyable FPS I have ever played. If Legion becomes what Dust was always supposed to be I will be happy because I still love the idea of Dust/Legion and its potential is amazing.
CCP is still trying to make the game we have all wanted to play for so long even if that requires a shift to PC so be it. At last they are not canceling this game or concept completely. Many other companies would have ended the project and then I would truly be sad.
My fear (whether I am indeed right or not) is that CCP isn't trying to make the game we wanted to play. The newer people need to understand CCPs behavior. My dead main (DunkMujunk, RIP you sexxy bastardd) would have been a year old at the end of the month. I played nearly every day, religiously, all the way up until the begining of may (i think it was may) when FF14 hit, just before my birthday (thanks CCP, good to know you care). Up to that point I had taken probably around 3 weeks away from Dust, aboit a week and a half each for 1.7 and 1.8, and only missed 2 caps throught the almost year (maybe 4, at the most). I was well worn down by that point, as most vets were. The flaylock and md patch, one of my first, was just hell, the aim assist patch, which totally changed everything, and the following patches completely changed things even more, then 1.7 tank storm, followed by 1.8 which in my opinion just devistated the game.
The worst part was the whole time CCP kept talking about all this new stuff that was right around the corner, and how great it was, and soon tm, and markets and player trading and corp shared assets and null sec pc. Then the latest patch notes would come out and it was mostly trash. Little fixes and number changes that, while sometimes helpful, usually resulted in a back to square one situation. Each patch pushed the game further and further from where we were told it was suppose to go. But even as CCP pushed AUR on vets so they could stay up to date on the required skills each new patch, we stuck it through. Plenty of mumbling and grumbling, but there was a beautiful end game, at the time at least. Then FF14 hit and CCP gave its most hardcore, dedicated Dust fan base a giant f you. Not only did they sh*t all over us, they took what seemed like personal offense to our anger and, in a series of posts or documents or whatever they were from CCP that somehow got out, they basically told us to go f*ck ourselves.
I won't lie, it hurt. I loved the idea, loved the people I played with, and loved the game for its potential. With out the potential, Dust is nothing.
The worst part is people were saying damn near exactly what I am saying as they walked out the Dust door nearly a year ago as I was walking in. CCP has been very consistent in its behavior.
And now, to see people still getting strung along, told these tall tales of future gaming greatness, it makes me mad. Not at you new guys, or the vets who stayed, but CCP.
In my opinion, Legion will not happen, CCP knows it will not happen, and while Dust may not be making a ton of money, I feel it is still profiting, and once it isn't Dust/Legion will cease to exist. I feel a decent part of this is EVE being unwilling to give any control of their playground away, and members of CCP who are EVE players themselves do not want to see EVE lose even a little bit of control over tranquility.
That last chunk was all my opinion.
And to CCP Ratatti (I know I always spell your name wrong, but this time was not on purpose), you got a hell of a job given to you, and I know you are doing just that, your job. But I believe your company is knowingly betraying the trust placed in your company by this new generation, and I have trouble seeing any blue tag as anyting other than a propoganda machine.
I would suggest the new folks do some research, there is a ton of material hidden away in these forums, use the search button, find out what those guys with 400k likes were saying back when they had 2 likes, see how the same issues have plagued the game from nearly day 1, see how changing the game for the new, low sp people will result in a giant circle when all you guys start hitting 25/35 mil sp, see the Biomass Mega Thread that has been hidden away from everyone in the locker room (we lost a lot of good clones), see my transformation from a young eager merc into a soul-less, bitter, veteran troll.
Its all there. What happened was suppose to be remembered. It want suppose to take center stage forever, but it wasnt suppose to be forgotten, and it damn sure was not suppose to be hidden.
*sigh*
