Okay so. CCP has stated that too many people are playing Logistics. Most of the community agrees that this is because the assault suits, well, suck. So talking it over with a few buddies of mine, we came up with a simple theory.
People play Logi suits because they have superior CPU/PG compared to an assault suit. Making it easier to fit them with tank and good weaponry. They may not be the slayer logi they once were, but still people use logi suits as assault suits.
What we came up with is this
- Lower the amount of CPU/PG that a logi suit has. Yes I'm talking dramatically. With max skills, the optimal number for CPU/PG would be ~ 350 CPU/60 PG
- Dramatically buff the bonus to fitting of equipment, like 60-75% total fitting bonus. This is a logistic's role, to have equipment and support the team. It would make sense that they could easily fit equipment.
- Make it so that Logi's get a bonus to all equipment's efficiency, but each race has its own bonus that is better. - For example: Minmatar have a bonus to repair tool range and efficiency. So that would be their highest bonus on equipment, but they would also have a bonus to nanohives, uplinks, and scanners. However those bonuses wouldn't be nearly as good as if they were on a different racial suit (Amarr - uplinks, Caldari - Nanos, Gallente - Scanners)
Now on the Assault suit changes
- Slightly reduce CPU/PG making it harder to fit equipment
-Give a larger fitting bonus to weaponry -Give a slight bonus to fitting defensive modules (armor plates, reppers, shield extenders, etc)
All of this is just what we came up with, but the TL;DR version is Logis become better at Logi and less effective at killing. Assaults become more effective at, well, assaulting, and need to rely on logi a bit more for ammo/reps.
All of this is open for discussion. Keep it clean guys. This is just a game. |

I like it. What are your opinion about the proposed Amarr Logi loosing its sidearm?
I think this kind of rearrangement of bonuses are needed if they go-ahead and remove it.

Only problem is that you have a lot of assault players running uplinks and as you may know these are tough to fit and have a working assault suit aswell. How do you solve that problem if you lower the cpu on assault suits. I do think the solution is in the bonus but I'm not sure this is the one. I like your out of the box thinking though. |

Rattati actually stated that there are more logis than assaults.
Your underlying premise is flawed.
All you're doing is making logis pointless until you've maxed them.
They're bad slayer suits now, and they'll be worse when assaults are buffed.
I was running a Balac's on my Amarr Logi earlier, and I was getting out-scored by a heavy. I couldn't kill things fast enough.
It would seem like wisdom, but for the warning in my heart...

I think that the Amarr should keep its sidearm, unless CCP gives it some other unique bonus other than drop uplinks. Not that drop uplink bonus is uselss, just not as useful as nanohive or repair tool bonuses.

CCP Rattati said it somewhere on the forms. God knows where I read it.

Maybe I am making them slightly useless until you level them, but I think that would work, because I am also an eve player. A scythe (minmatar cruiser logi in eve) is useless if you have minmater cruiser to level one and shield transportation to level one. The point is to give players an incentive, or a reason, to WANT to level up their suits and support skills. So sure, maybe the numbers could be adjusted, but there needs to be good benefits to leveling up. Like I said, this is just my suggestion and is all up for debate. Although I am of the opinion people are playing logi, because the assault suits suck. So buff the assault and make logi more like logi and less like assault. |

To be honest, it sounds like Assaults aren't worthwhile, at least compared to a slayer Logi... which makes no sense to me, but aight. Tanky scouts aren't a problem, but Logis are. What is logic?
G Sacred wrote:- Lower the amount of CPU/PG that a logi suit has. Yes I'm talking dramatically. With max skills, the optimal number for CPU/PG would be ~ 350 CPU/60 PG Good lord no. I get that you're looking to make it impractical to fit damage mods [it already is, but for the sake of discussion...], but this severely takes away from our defense. We're already public enemy #1, AND we're easily sighted thanks to our BRIGHT FLOURESCENT YELLOW ARMOR. [caps to show how absurdly loud the color is] We already have the second lowest base health among all the classes, and no speed to back it up.

Because this is how you get nothing but MinLogis on the field. Many people already play Minmatar for the reptool bonuses, this just further improves their decision.

Most of these points have been discussed in depth here.. would be better to keep the discussion consolidated. Higher chance of devs actually reading it. |
