Seems to me that this topic is getting filled with at lot of personal agendas and non-constructive conversation, so let me try helping this along.
Side A: We want these names to feel awesome and important and have a connection to the lore of the eve universe, and even possibly add to this universe. We did a lot of research, and feel like names like this work best.
Side B: We want names that sound like ranks, or titles of responsibility (chief, treasurer, sergeant) because they quickly denote relative standing, and because they make me feel like I am a solider, or at least a person who has earned something from their rank.
Side A: We understand why you want to have your names, but feel them to be inappropriate. We have no responsibility assigned to our standings level. It only effects payout. Calling people by names suggested in your lists seems inappropriate to the lore/mechanics of the game. Other things with your lists are inconsistent with the various factions' cultures. They seem appropriate on a cursory glance based on the common perception of the races (super capitalist/communists, generic tribal people, space Americans, religious zealots), but the races are much more complex than that, and I would like to explore that lore, and get other people to explore it too. I think this is a great, non intrusive venue to explore that.
Side B: I don't like your suggestions as they have no meaning to the layman, nor to us. They seem over-researched and too complex at a cursory glance. We want something with more meaning in a practical sense. Our lists get the point across nicely, and we fee like having these names lets us casually refer to (and be referred to by) others. It much easier to feel like gaining standings levels is an achievement worthy of praise when you can understand it and tell other people about how exciting it is (Or boast about it with the other forum warriors).
Side C: It seems as though the community is split. Both sides have good points. It also seems that some hardcore rollplayers like the complex intricate lore as they feel connected to their race of choice, but do not necessarily enjoy being associated with some of the facets of the culture. Others like a race from it's simple ideals rather than their original racial origins. Ideally we need a system that encourages exploration and involvement in the lore of the universe, yet easily conveys rank and accomplishment to the average person, and is not so abstract or simple that it confuses/frustrates people. How about we compromise and think of solutions? If we work together we can make something that everyone can be happy and excited about, or at least not overly dislike.
Now that that is all out of the way and we can get back to constructive dialog, (I know that I'm asking asking for this on an internet forum), I propose this solution. How about we have the complex lore names juxtaposed with a easy system such as numbers (or Roman numerals, or noble titles)? i.e. Gallente Rank 8 Gyges This allows ease of understanding, but includes lore elements that tie into the culture and history of the factions. I would be happy to see what other ideas people can come up with as long as they are solution oriented, and not an internet **** measuring contest.

Joking aside, Evicer, while I applaud you finally coming up with SOMETHING of your own, I dislike the idea of tying power a title of a militia mercenary. I fight for the Gallente, and when the dust settles I pick up my loot, walk to the other side of the battlefield, and fight for the Caldari. I fight for the Amarr, and I do it all without consequence (besides the slight standings loss). It doesn't seem lore worthy to give titles with responsibility to people with no contracts or official loyalties. As immortal mercenaries, we fight for whomever we choose. While I can see fancy title that denotes battle prowess, and even pay grade, I don't see governance as something on our list of rewards. Especially from a company that is merely hired by an empire, rather than
Besides, if you define nothing you can make your own backstory without needing certain game performance to back it up. It's way more fun that way.
I'd like to see a title that is less hierarchical, and really just a simple title worth nothing more than increased payout and bragging rights. We don't need people who have more time/skill making decisions that change the fate of the galaxy based purely on that merit.

Problem is that we can be more than mercenaries. Not just mercenaries. CCP yet again failed to explain the lore behind this game which leads to people saying what you just said. And we can do that if we want, but being politicians or officers without any power is just as boring as just having a simple title. We needn't devise systems that don't do anything, and this system is especially inept due to it's limitations. We can allow our imaginations to do that instead. I'd prefer to keep it simple and start with just a name, and when systems arise that better allow for such expansion, then we get back to the drawing board.
