I feel that the designated marksman rifle is a class of weapon that is sorely missed in DUST. Not everyone enjoys the CQ antics of SMGs and ARs, or the extreme ranges that the sniper rifles excel at.
In comes the DMR.
DMRs are semi auto only weapons that deal much more damage than your average automatic rifle, but less damage than a sniper rifle. DMRs are medium to medium/long range weapons. One example of a DMR that is in DUST is the Scrambler Rifle and it's charged shot. A DMR should NEVER OHK a full HD enemy, which is what the ScR and its charged shot got wrong.
Now it SEEMED that these weapons were possibly going to be added to DUST, but never materialized in game.
Caldari - Gauss Rifle, charges up and shoots a powerful round, semi auto Gallente - Plasma Lance, warms up to release a superheated lance of plasma, semi auto, can overheat Minmatar - Precision Rifle, gas operated, semi auto Amarr - Scrambler Rifle, charged shot, semi auto
The charge times for the rifles would be near negligible so the rifles wouldn't be bogged down by too high of "spool" times, but all DMRs would be capped at 300 RPM fire rate.

Maken Tosch wrote:Isn't that what the tactical rifles are for in Dust? As far as I remember, there was the Gallente TAR (tactical assault rifle) which was probably renamed to tactical plasma rifle. Then there is similar one for the Minmatar. Those weapons remind me of the DMR from halo.
Completely forgot about the TAR. The CR isn't a DMR, it is a three round burst assault rifle similar to the M16A4 in BF4. The TAR IS set up to be DMR like but falls short because of its limited range and mediocre damage.

One for each race please.
That's what I envisioned.

The TAC AR is NOT a DMR because its range is far too short. The TAC AR is more of a battle rifle.
