From the day beta ended to where we are now, it seems clear that the original simple roles of Logi, Assault, Sniper, and Heavy are long gone.
Now, even the roles we once knew have long since evolved. I believe with what limited experience I have I can conjecture a list for each:
Logi Logis tend to be stuck behind a heavy or supporting a group of Assaults. If not, Logis tend to underperform. Being a Logi is a rewarding position should one be capable of recognizing situations and identifying who or why a clone needs to be healed. Risk and Reward aside, Logis should be capable of judging whether to risk their life trying to save a lonely friendly assault or heavy that is surrounded by red, or continue to support the heavy it is on.
As for types of Logis, most common on the list is the Assault Logi, Support Logi (aka LogiBro), or AV Logi.
For each role of the Logi, Equipment plays a huge part. Since most Logi suits have 3 Equipment Slots, most typically one can find [Remote Explosives/Nanohives/Scanner] or an equipment set somewhat similar for an Assault or AV Logi, while Support Logis can be found with more common sets such as [Nanohives/Rep Tool/Nanite Injector].
More rarely there are Scout Logis who run ahead in the battlefield wielding Remotes or Proximity Explosives and Drop Uplinks to secure the battlefield ahead of time. Due to the buff of the Scout, this role has been restored to the scout.
The Scout or Recon Since the buff of the scouts and the introduction of cloak fields, Scouts have evolved largely from a sniper core infantry or a speedy shot gunner to more versatile roles. Since Scouts have a decent amount of module space, as well as two equipment slots, Scouts have the capability of crossing roles and playing the Logi, albeit a less decent one due to lack of an additional equipment slot.
Thus, it is not uncommon to see Scouts working as Recons (Sniper Scouts who call out targets, help issue orders, keep a vantage point over an area), Assault Scouts, Logi Scouts, or Assassin Scouts.
For example, a Shotgunner scout (I label as an Assassin Scout due to the TTK) might equip Kincats for speed, as well as Nanohives and a Cloak Field, while an Assault Scout may equip a Rifle, tack on Armor Plates or Shield Extenders and Regulators, as well as putting together Nanohives and another equipment.
Recon scouts are most often found with minimal armor, instead trading with dampening modules, hacking modules, and for equipment a cloak and possibly uplinks.
Logi scouts are uncommon but can be found carrying a Rep Tool and Nanohive or Rep Tool and Needle (Nanite Injector)
The Heavy - more specifically, the Sentinel or Base Heavy This role has not changed much since beta. It has remained a standard, a core of the team. In fact, in my personal opinion Heavies are the best fit to be Squad Leads, provided they have the additional Communication Skills to converse with other squad members, issue orders, and call in support. This is because when squads are centered around heavies, there is a greater strength of unity and view of strength. After all, who do you want to follow? A BIG guy or a small guy? I'm not downplaying your real life size, of course. It is just natural perception. Plus, if the heavy has good communication skills and is capable at giving logical orders, then you have a natural squad lead.
Although slow, heavies have an incredible amount of eHP. Armed with a Heavy Machine Gun or Forge Gun, Heavies are capable of mass fire support or slaughter, depending on which one is better at--getting Kill Assists or getting Kills. Heavies are capable of running AV as well, since they can fit in the massive Forge Gun, which is also capable of long distance sniping, should one have good eyes and steady hands. Perfect for surgeons.
Typically, Heavies who are capable Squad Leads can earn as much if not more WP than their Logi(s). This is also supposing the squad follows the Lead in cohesion and the Lead is capable of directing the squad as such.
The Commando The Commando, a role not revealed until later, long past beta, is a blank slate. Between the Heavy and an Assault, it is the Medium. Armed with two light weapons of choice, the Commando has massive flexibility within its firepower. The base health is lower than a Sentinel, but unlike the Sentinel, Commandos are capable of carrying an Equipment. This means that Commandos can also function as lone wolves. The module space seems to be begging for Damage Mods and Armor Reps, which coincide with the Commando's main function--firepower and survival. Speed is not a factor for Commandos, although it certainly can be, provided the Commando is equipped with Kincats.
While Commandos do not fit in a specific category such as a "Logi Commando or Assault Commando," Commandos are capable of doing certain things better than other suits, such as running Fire Support. Due to its more tankier nature than an Assault, Commandos can step into the line of fire when the squad's Heavy is reloading or ducking to get some reps in, and more often than not can still survive, unless the odds are too numerous.
Commandos are more capable when with a pack. While the Commando can be a soloist, an Assassin, due to the slow speed it is not advisable. Rather, sticking with a Heavy almost always guarantees a Logi assistant nearby, so in the case that the Commando(s) is carrying Needles, and so is the Logi, then if either the Logi or Commando falls, the either can pick them up. Furthermore, with another contender in the battlefield the enemy will find it harder to pick off the Heavy's Logi should there be a Commando firing in his face.
TL:DR -- When in a pack Commandos should have Needles, it is often best, while if going solo a Commando is best equipped with a Nanohive(R, if possible).
The two weapon slots allows there to be flexibility with weapon slots.
Wherever the Wind (Aero) might take me, may it ever be True, for the way of the Commando is noble and right.

Also, report the OP and make the request there.
I am my own entity, Sir Gannarsein. I ask you respect that. True and Aero merely steered me into the right direction, the right path of the Commando and thus I admire them both with due respect. I am not True, therefore making "self-aggrandizing" statements cannot happen. And if anything, I exaggerate not and I praise them worthily because they truly deserve it.
Can we not have our Teachers, our idols, our mentors, our gods? After all, how else do we succeed?

Well said, Comrade Darken.
Nothing less than what I expected of my former great leader.
I salute.
