If we're stuck with current HD mechanics, why not try to fix the things which break them?
When Chromosome Scouts broke HD by sprinting and weaving through bullet streams, we called it a foul. Yet when mercs break HD by bunny hop or rapid wiggle, we call it "gun game".
I'm as guilty as the next guy at trying my very best to break hit detection employ "gun game", but let's not kid ourselves about what we're doing. This quirk makes little sense, and it makes Dust look silly. Should you find the time, would you mind looking into rapid directional change?

2. And when you say 'rapid directional change' do you mean in such a way as to prevent circle-strafing?
1. Impossible-to-miss, point-blank attacks can be evaded via bunny hop. No doubt that aim is thrown in some cases, but it stands to reason that if HD can be broken at point-blank range it can also be broken at other ranges.
2. Wikipedia defines circle strafing as follows. I've seen other definitions here in the forums, some likening it to a circular-roll or figure-eight analog stick movement. When I say 'rapid directional change' I am referring to inertia-free changes in trajectory.

Hit Detection remains wonky. It is at its wonkiest at close range when shooter are target are both in motion. I'm not suggesting that we all stand still; I'm suggesting that we learn the limits of the current system and set its parameters accordingly.
I could be 100% mistaken -- it wouldn't be the first time -- but I suspect that we're living beyond our means when it comes to lateral acceleration. I'm hoping that Rattati might have the time and means to experiment with the parameter to find its optimal value (i.e. the point beyond which HD degrades).
