I thnk it's funny how you never actually read the post.
He wants to be able to mark individual players so his squad (he's not running solo) can focus fire.
For the record, though, you can do this. Also you can call out the name of player you want to focus fire on.

It is something I do with my son when I play with him. We usually just try to remove tanks it helps to get one page. Not an easy task given he just turned six.
Edit I do know this only works if you are squad lead.
Sounds like a lot of father-son bonding, so it doesn't need to work or be easy - just fun and encouraging. Props for being an active dad.

Also you can call out the name of player you want to focus fire on. calling out names works. but it takes too long when everyone has too look around for him first. if he ducks into cover, ill have people looking forever and calling out specific locations is spotty. "hes behind the crate" crates are everywhere lol
To clarify what I mean - you can use the game mechanic for giving squad orders to visually mark the target, and it's very quick and easy to do - you just need line of sight or can do it from the map (though this is not recommended for marking infantry).
